I did it. She kept mauling my other dog while I was at work. Had to do it. Found her a great home with a family in the country.

Makes sense if they're moving and cannot take the pet with them.

One of my dogs was given to me by a friend who got her as a hunting dog but then never found time to hunt. He didn't want a pet so he gave her to me and she was happy for the upgrade in accommodations.

I personally would never move somewhere where I could not take my pet. I just cant imagine someone having a dog for several years and just up and giving it away.

I would prefer people try to give their pets away rather than just abandon them, or drive away and leave them to fend for themselves.

I'm odd in that I likely wouldn't move into a scenario where my pets couldn't come with me, but it might depend on circumstances.

I've had to put a bullet in a dog who I loved that slept in the bed every night for 6 years.

She went crazy and started attacking all other dogs and stopped eating.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

i volunteer local animal shelter, and its amazing how often this occurs.

we got a sick dog to take care of. 9 years old. Who the frick gets rid of a 9 year old dog?

sometimes shite happens, but almost all the dogs we help out are that they are "moving" and can't take the dog.

its fricking bullshite.

i fricking hate people.

Yea I couldn't do it.

I have an a-hole friend that was moving and no longer wanted the dog so he (and his wife and kids) drove the dog to city park and "set it free". fricking scumbags he and his wife.

ps - to clarify, when I say "move" they were moving into a new house and didn't want the dog to piss/shite in the new house.

You do realize that many homeowners insurance companies don't underwrite certain types of dogs right?

We had a neighbor who sold their house. When we met the new owners we noticed they had a dalmation that looked like the previous owner's dog.

THE PREVIOUS OWNER GAVE THEM THE DOG WHEN HE SOLD THEM THE HOUSE.

My roommate has a cat I'm trying to get rid of if anyone wants it. Summbitch won't run away.

yes, for the most part we haven't had aggressive breeds. The 9 year old was a golden lab mix.
