i gave my brothers dog away when he and his wife went out of town. She kind of hinted towards it.
My brother was in shock that I found a home for it.
I would fricking end you. Then get my dog back.

Hating all animals is a lot different than just not wanting a pet
Okay so maybe I worded that a little too strongly. Perhaps a better choice would have been "My wife and I have zero desire to have pets in our home."

That's all good man.
Yeah, that wording made me think you were a serial killer

I have a dog I never wanted. The GF, now wife, did. I'm doing the responsible thing & waiting for him to die of old age and after that no more pets. We dont have kids, get lots of vacation time, but I feel tied down b/c of this dog. Can't just pick up and go on vacation spur of the moment.
I've tried to give him away, but she wouldn't let me. Plus the shedding is a pain in the arse. We vacuum 2-3 times a week. Never again.

I gave away my last pooch because I was going to work in the oil field and was single.
its called being a responsible pet owner. what else should they do?

I've known assholes who have just dropped them off on the side of the road.
What you describe isn't bad.

I really couldn't imagine giving my lab away. I got her when she was about 6 weeks old (too early but the mom had died) she was the runt and would certainly have died.
She's 2 now and goes everywhere with the wife and I. All her siblings have either died due to malnutrition or being hit by cars but it's Louisiana so that's almost to be expected. I have no doubt that my dog kept us together and is one of the biggest reasons my wife and I have made it through some really shitty moments.
To each his own, but if you're the type of person that can just put a bullet in a dog because it "don't hunt right" or will sit back and watch a dog die of parvo because you don't want to spend money at the vet, then I couldn't see myself hanging out or respecting you in any capacity.

Moving to Hawaii from N.C.
Had a very sweet dog that would have had to go into quarantine for 120 days upon arriving. Think she would have been really bad off going through that so had a coworker who was just finishing up cancer treatment that was happy to take her. Worked well for both of them
