How come almost everyone calls Wiki a bad source when you have citation?

If you ever link a wiki some will say it's a bad source of info. And yes i totally see that it can be edited and changed by anyone.
But to quickly convey a single topic I can't think of a greater repository.
The issue is. Most things that could be questioned are usually cited. So IF you don't believe the wiki, you can click the number and then read the original article the info was compiled from.

I just don't get why if you're just trying to make a point and link wiki it immediately becomes an issue.

I would think personally a small site with a focused ideology would be a less reliable source.

What are your feelings on info from wiki? Do you cite the sources?

Depending on the material. If it’s something controversial, especially something leftists disagree with, it gets edited to conform with leftist propaganda.

Wikipedia is a very left leaning site, you can clearly see it in what info is actually allowed to exist on certain profiles and how it's described/characterized. The founder of the site said as much, and the sources you're talking about are also likely biased.

There's a lot of garbage research that gets published with massive bias, so even if they sourced academic papers they aren't worth shite.

Because most MAGA-types dont like it when the truth doesnt fit their own narrow-minded narrative and agenda .. so they attack the source.

Wiki is my go to for info. It's usually more straight forward than articles written with bias.

Don't cite wiki then, cite the source wiki cites.

Because most people cite Wiki - which can say whatever - rather than double checking the actual source

It wasn’t like that 15 years ago. That was the Wild West of Wikipedia back then and you could really put anything anywhere. It’s hard for teachers to get that stigma out of their mind.

Now it’s regulated pretty strictly to make sure they keep up with the current liberal propaganda.

This must have been the thought process of all my college professors 20 years ago when wiki wasn't allowed as a research source. MAGA before MAGA even existed. They were definitely ahead of the curve. And we all know the alt-right resides in academia.

Go read the change comments on the wiki page of the guy who ran his SUV through a Christmas parade in Wisconsin last year.

That will tell you why wikipedia, especially when it deals with any part of the progressive narrative, can not be trusted.

I’ve always used Wiki as an “intro” source. If I wanted to keep going, I’d find other sources

I also don’t use it for current events

Unlike you ghouls on the left who just censor/delete anything that doesn't fit the leftist propaganda.

If you are directly linking to the wiki, that's an issue. If you link to the footnoted sources themselves, that's a different story.

Wikipedia is useful, but I sure as shiat wouldn't call it a single source of truth. If it's ever cited at work, everyone knows what the caveat "it's from Wikipedia" means.

It's good directional info, but it could be wildly out of date, hearsay, or just absolute bullcrap.

Wiki is a collection of sources. Anyone who cites wiki, and not the source the wiki is built on, deserves a bad grade for being a lazy shite.

For now, the math, physics, etc. articles are pretty good.

And when I say for now, it's because it's only a matter of time before some woke leftist editor gets in these pages are starts referencing it's "white man's math" and going on about how there are other valid maths, and that everyone has their own truth on what is correct math or some similar progressive dribble to convince you that 2+2=5 is true if the person insisting on this is not white.

Wiki is great when there is no political reference.

Also, why don’t you read about the Wiki founders thoughts on the current Wikipedia agenda? He says Wiki has been completely taken over by leftists.
