To those debating stability and instability and promoting insane asylums:
You’re missing the bigger picture.
Were the Columbine killers unstable or were they merely acting consistently with their beliefs? If the latter, we’ve got a human problem that our society is only feeding, while it stigmatizes the solution.

Public execution, gruesome, painful stuff where a close casket burial is required after.
That just makes them even bigger martyrs. That's not going to work.

Is that supposed to be a gotcha or something? It has very little to do with my point.

You can't stop it. It's like trying to ban all kids drowning in a pools. As long as we have pools there will be drownings. You can't always anticipate when someone will suffer a mental break.

voting there is compulsory, so one could argue their laws more closely reflect their values (whether or not we agree with them)
It was simply a response by their politicians, not civilian voting.

No gotcha but pointing out that, just like anything else in our society, banning something doesn't mean criminals will stop doing it and that fact is especially amplified when you have a weak arse admin like Obama or Biden that allow our border to remain a free market for criminals to operate through.

I have owned guns for 45 years. I've had breakups, neighbor disputes, fights, road rage encounters etc. Some of them serious enough that a gun might have been necessary. I have yet to shoot a single person, like the vast majority of gun owners.

Yea this sounds like a solid idea and will absolutely have no way of dragging in innocent people.
If you don’t pay attention to your shitbag sociopath kid and fail to get them help/committed, you aren’t innocent imo.

Make death illegal. Make everyone dead zombies. My fee fees.

so compulsory voting has no greater effect on policy outcomes than our ~60% turnout?
ok.

Stop creating soft target zones. Gun free zones kill people.
Hold people who create gun free zones accountable for not taking steps to guarantee that is the case.

Stop giving mass shooters attention.

The one positive from your stupid law is the ghettos would be empty because all of them would be in jail over what their kids did

The vast majority of gun owners view them as a last line of defense or a hunting tool. If I'm not mistaken, a lot of the people that do these shootings get their guns from family members that don't secure them properly. Pay attention to your kids and lock up your weapons - or at least hide them and control access.

Its both a mental health issue and a "society" issue. They aren't mutually exclusive or inclusive.

Who gets to decide who is unstable?
I mean, for better or worse, the same people who have decided what constitutes a criminal act would do that. Since the 1950's we (the state) have closed hundreds of mental institutions/insane asylums will adding tens of thousands of prison beds to the point we are outsourcing that practice to private companies.
Why is one so readily accepted over the other? I agree with your premise though, it is a very dark subject and was a slippery slope for generations before the practice of institutionalizing mentally ill people was practically ended.
