I'm a ford guy, BUT ive been stuck with a frontier as a rental vehicle, i wasn't a fan. Neighbor has a colorado and strongly dislikes it, i drove it and wasn't impressed. Honestly saving up/holding out for a tacoma is the only move here.

How does this get posted? The new Frontier is nothing like your rental vehicle.

Anyway, I'm currently in the market myself. I owned a Tacoma for 8 years, and I was severely disappointed. Will never own another one (of the current generation anyway). I will save all the typing and just say that I think I'm down to a Frontier SV 4X4 with the long bed. The shorter wheelbase mid-sized trucks these days just have too short a bed.

I bought a new 2020 Tacoma 4x4 at the end of the season. It was $3K less than an identical 2017 (???). It was also less than a Ranger 4x4. Maybe I lucked out, but don't let the retail sway you. Ranger wouldn't budget from their price, Tacoma would deal. I'm still very happy with the buy.

That's actually pretty good. Does it have heated outside mirrors? I can't get a clear answer on that?

Mine doesn't. Might be an option.

ETA: Ford gave me 0% interest on financing. I bluebooked it and it's currently valued at about 6k more than I paid for it.

Electric is the way to go now

Op said towing of 6000lbs is a must. Electric has the power, but generally when towing you want the range too, even if you aren't towing something too far. An electric truck is for someone that doesn't actually need a truck.

Team Nissan all the way.

The Frontiers are rock solid, and I am straight up in love with my First Gen Titan. It's a tank.

Very good.

Ok, now I had a Frontier long bed back in 2000. Pain in the arse to park. Seriously, when you test drive it, make sure you go to a store parking lot and park between cars, pull out, park again and keep doing it until you're satisfied it works. That long wheel base and poor turning radius was a serious problem. Maybe the turning radius is better now but make sure you park that fricker a few times on your test drive.

I hated my long bed.

I have a Tacoma but I saw a new Frontier up close yesterday.

Very handsome.

Still wouldn't have it. Nissan is the Chrysler/Dodge brand of the Asian manufacturers. Most are trash and they've earned that reputation.

If you will be towing a legit 6k load then get a real truck. 1/2 ton min maybe even a 3/4 if it’s gonna be an every weekend kind on things. Midsize won’t be able to handle the tongue weight

Im going to get a mav with the towing package.

I need at least 6000lbs towing capacity.

The above three have that. I don't think the santa cruz does.

NVM, yeah you need a bigger truck. The 4000 for the mav is enough for a boat or like a clipper pop up.

If i needed a bit more id be getting the ranger with the tow package.

Yeah I don't want a full size truck. They're just too big and I often have to park in confined spaces.

I love my truck (Sierra) but living in Downtown Dallas it can be a pain to park. It pulls great though.

My 2011 Frontier was a tank. Got to 200k miles only doing routine maintenance. Upgraded to a Silverado to get a bigger camper and it has already given me more shite

So is everyone's

Everyone’s Tacoma? Yeah probably. But we have another Toyota that is two years newer that is worth about 90% of what we paid.

Tacomas have one of the top 3 resale values consistently for at least 15 years. Which is my point, pay more now get more later
