I find them to be sort of stylistically a neat nod to these:

You’ll notice all the manufacturers are moving back to the boxy shape. Popular with the females.

this was underpowered as frick for a full sized pickup. I had one when at LSU and it was blowing oil out of the exhausts at 85K miles.

Yeah I was going to come and say that without knowing the Hp on the 3-cylinder Bronco Sport, I'd bet it laps any "teen car" from the 80s through early 90s in terms of hp.

The mid-90s Geo Metro put out 55 hp

I see three immediate drawbacks:

1. Ford manufactured them.
#1 could be #2 & #3 as well.

No other reason could be more worser-ish.

I only rode in one once, a girl's car driving us around for a speech project. She couldn't turn on the AC on the interstate

damn! I’ve never been in one, didn’t realize they were that under powered, makes that Bronco look like an F1 car

Regular sedans today make higher hp than Ferraris of the 80s and 90s.

The F355, one of my personal dream cars, put out 375 hp.

Now you can find un-modded Honda Accords with 252 hp

My 2015 base model Genesis is 311 hp.

A current G90 gets 375-409 hp (depending on the engine)

I drive a 3 cylinder Ford Escape.

So far no major issues. I have had it for about a year and four months. I have put close to 40k miles on it. I get 37 miles per gallon.

I mean if you can get the Bronco sport to weigh as much as that then yeah it makes sense.lol But me, I don’t want some tiny arse fine turbocharged engine boosted to the moon making ungodly amounts of heat wearing out plastics they use in these engines to keep cost down.

How is an under powered car dangerous? This is one of the dumber comments I’ve seen.

I’m sure you are going to say there are times you need to accelerate, but those times are insanely few and almost always avoidable. There are probably 100 accidents in young drivers going to fast, doing donuts, etc. due to too much hp than there are issues with young drivers with too little hp.

Patience will almost always allow you to avoid situations where high hp is needed.

For those suggesting things like the Mazda and Honda Crv he said it’s for his son. Those are very feminine cars. I’m not suggesting the bronco sport, just saying I understand the interest

Id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it...

An accelerator can help you avoid a lot of accidents.

But, I agree about patience as well.

I would’ve smoked it in my ‘84 Prelude with the manual 5 speed. That engine thrived in the red and would’ve killed the Bronco in the turns.

FYI, the Bronco Sport is available with the 2.0 4 cylinder Ecoboost. Increase in horsepower/torque and cost but with a significant ding in fuel economy.

Test drove one before I bought my new vehicle.
Felt like driving a tank.
That's not a testament to it's durability, just it's weight, handling, and lack of power...
