Not just no, but hell no.

No more property taxes.

I am more ambivalent on the roads tax.

Im not a resident, but this sounds about right in general.

It needs to be figured out, but lack of true accountability has built distrust in the electorate.

It's $6million per year. City parish has annual budget of almost $1billion. They can find it in there if they look. No new taxes.

This guy gets it. I have a 12 year old with more than one disorder and I’ve seen what the facilities in this state do with the money.

Fortunately I have the financial means to send him outside Louisiana to get proper care when necessary.

There are many people here that don’t have that opportunity. And it’s not just the lower class that is on welfare. There’s a lot of average middle class families that don’t qualify for assistance because they make too much.

These people are why we need the tax AND for it to be used properly. It’s just a sad situation. I’m voting for it but I can’t blame people that don’t want to..

So, where does the saved money go? If they would give it back to me in some form of reduction in other taxes, I might think differently. Until then, I vote NO on all new taxes in EBR.

Voted no on both taxes.

I do think a facility is need.

Until the metro council and mayor get their act together on properly spending money I will vote no all taxes they propose.

I got my property tax bill week before this. There were 32 different assessments. This would make 33.

It's like a death by a thousand cuts.

Yes they tell you if you own a 200K dollar home that's all you pay, but we already pay 32 others. And like many, homes are valued at over 200K or they have businesses it's much more.

Then consider that they push through a tax like the one for COA and you see how little accountability we have over these private entities and I have to say enough is enough.

I voted yes because see my Crazy Cousin posts in the Thanksgiving Stories Thread. He's been beaten and jailed by cops twice in front of his own home when he was off his meds.
The cops didn't have much choice but to whoop his arse to cuff him, but from there he should have gone to a mental facility, not EBR Prison. He shat himself and was arguing with the Devil when they showed up.

They admit they have 55 million of the 60 million dollars that they need. Use those funds and cut out 500K of studies, bike paths, and green space and they have enough to implement the strategy using public entities currently in place.

Many of these proposals like roads and mental health would benefit the area greatly. However, until government can prove that it can use tax money properly, I'll have to keep voting no.

VOTING NO. Its desperately needed, BUT, I vote against ALL property taxes.

ETA: I voted NO on both taxes. First, I dont trust this administration (see COA). Secondly, the roads tax should be a gas tax as opposed to sales tax.

Having to pay state income tax, property tax, high sales tax, and private school tuition is a bit much.

“Mental health”= drug abusers, homeless people, and people who don’t take their prescribed medication because they sell it for drugs.

Never ending cycle. Trust me

For all you "it's not a guns problem it's a mental health problem" this sounds like a good opportunity to start addressing the problem as you see it.

We don't need a new tax if we just start using the guns.

In all seriousness, after the COA debacle, EBR can go frick itself on taxes.

I just don’t understand someone saying they are going to vote against something that could be so good for the community and would cost you less than $30.00 a year.

frick you.
No new taxes. They get more than enough as it is. Not $.01 more.
