90k at wake or duke

Who actually pays these prices?

Every time I read about students and what they pay, it’s based on family income.

There’s a reddit thread where someone from NC is paying $16k/year for Duke and their parents make $150k/year. In-state tuition for Duke is listed as $70k/year.

Is anyone actually paying the full amount? I guess super rich people with kids that barely get in and have no scholarships?

Isn’t Duke private? Wasn’t aware they had in/out of state tuition

You’re right that they don’t. $70k is the base price. They estimate $90k total per year.

But they have a calculator to calculate your actual expense. I just ran our numbers as a student from Alabama. All typical middle class numbers. The cost goes down to $30k/year total.

HPU is located in a not so good section of High Point.
Similar to the former Birmingham Southern

Sounds like a school where rich Southern kids who couldn’t get into the Ivy League or Vandy would go.

UNC, Duke, Wake Forest, Davidson and High Point are all elitist schools with insanely high tuition prices that attract wealthy student profiles from all over the U.S.

The sheer volume of preppy schools in NC is one of the biggest reasons why they’ve become a purple state and have slowly trended further left over the years

Toured the campus once. It was surreal. It's not in a great part of town but behind the wall and fencing is the EPCOT of college campuses. Background music playing from speakers hidden in trees, Disney-esque landscaping, incredible fountains and sculptures scattered throughout, granite counter tops in the dorm rooms. Unbelievable

Probably already mentioned but they chartered a plane for their students to be at the game yesterday. That's who they kept showing in the stands.

The last time I heard of that happening was when Davidson kicked our asses in Indy in the Sweet 16 with Steph Curry. They'also chartered a plane for students. What's with small schools from the state of NC chartering planes for students and kicking our asses in the tourney?!

Yeah that campus is insane. Surrounding hood but that seems like the rare place you would rather live on campus.

Wondered if they would survive with how over the top it is but this NIL era fits perfectly for them.

It’s actually $48k a year and still a lot cheaper by a mile than a lot of schools in the northeast
