Anyone live in one of the proposed areas?

After more than three years of study, the city is poised to adopt new regulations aimed at fostering more “walkable” neighborhoods, easing Houston’s overwhelming reliance on automobiles and directing more residents toward a growing transit system.
City council is set to vote Wednesday on a slate of ordinances that would bring buildings closer to the street, force parking lots to the side or behind buildings, expand sidewalks, and require “buffer” zones between sidewalks and the road. The ordinances would apply to new buildings and redevelopment only in certain parts of the city.

Exactly my first thought
Why drive a car to work when you can walk/bike in 95+ heat and daily rain showers?

Alright who wants to tell these folks that no one wants to walk to and from work in 100+ degree weather

Houston is not very spread out, so this should work.

It takes an hour to go anywhere in Houston

there’s only about 4-5 months of the year in Houston where you won’t get drenched in sweat for walking a mile. Seems like a good investment.
Is this part of Lina’s sell on raising property taxes in Harris County 8% without a vote?
