What’s the best route to take driving from Hilton Americans to NRG? Safest ha
Whichever way maps take you. It's not a horrible area. NRG stadium just isn't a walkable area.

As others have noted… Don’t stay near the stadium. Take an Uber if you have to

The Courtyard at the intersection of Kirby and Main is nice. I've stayed there several times without any incidents.

This, but the rail line also passes through the Museum and Hospital districts, so there are plenty of choices and neighborhoods.

This is what we did a few years back for the Texas Bowl against Texas Tech and Mahomes. I second this, with two caveats:
1. Here is the trick to get back to downtown after the game by rail quicker. The crowds at the Stadium Park/Astrodome station (closest one to NRG) will be all crowded with folks wanting to take the NORTHBOUND train back toward downtown. Often there are more riders than train capacity. Don't wait with them. Get on the SOUTHBOUND train, it only goes one more stop (to Fannin South Transit Center). Get off the southbound train, switch over to the northbound train, take your seat (you will be one of few on the train) and when you get to Stadium Park station you will be sitting down while everyone else piles in wall-to-wall standing up in the train car.
2. Either stay very close to the rail line in downtown Houston (Courtyard, AC Hotel, Spring Hill Suites, etc.) or make arrangements other than walking (Uber/Lyft). Walking through downtown Houston at night is SKETCHY at best. We walked the 7-8 city blocks from the station to the Hilton Americas (which is a great hotel) and felt very unsafe. Same thing years ago when we walked from Minute Maid Park to the Hyatt after an Astros game.

Stay downtown or Hotel ZaZA and ride the rail to the game.
100% stay downtown and ride the rail in.
Would recommend the JW marriot, hotel Laura, magnolia hotel, or hotel icon, all downtown right next to the rail stations and just hop on from there.
More bars and restaurants and safer than staying near reliant....

People are ridiculous. I mean downtown Houston can be dead in spots, which can be weird, and yeah you will see homeless but frick just deal with it.

We would always stay at the Crowne Plaza. Think it's a Wyndham now. It wasn't that great before so it's probably worse now but it's in a great location to walk.

I stayed right by it once and was nervous all night. Pass
Edit: qfter booking read reviews and had a few catalytic converters stolen from said hotel. Wasnt a motel 6 type place either. It was the wyndham

ZaZa still have a raucous pool scene during the summer? Had some great weekend getaways years ago there. Hope it’s still nice.

As others have said, that immediate area is a giant shite hole. But I believe the Westin Med Center isn’t too far away and that’s a nice hotel.

Stadium is not in a good part of HOU. There are several common hotels - Staybridge, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express - within walking distance. I personally would not stay in that area. If you do, I would stay on South Main - I think it's the Staybridge. Stay downtown and take the metro rail to game - getting home via rail can take some time.
Ehh one year I stayed downtown and it was such a cluster frick getting back to the hotel after the game.
The next time we played there I just stayed at crowne plaza by the stadium and was so much easier.
Actually it’s the Wyndham now.

NRG is in a ghetto area. I recommend hotel Derek.

So on a scale of Disney Springs to Cortana, how safe is the Galleria? I remember it being ok back in the day.
