You haven't been on the dating scene in a while. My go-to was a late lunch/early dinner around 4-ish, typically somewhere with a patio. If things went poorly, I could roll out and have the rest of the night to myself. If they went well, you have time to digest your food and can still go out at night.
Never schedule a sit-down dinner for a first date. Not as bad as going to a movie, but you limit what you can do after dinner

One of my colleagues had a crazy twist of fate that made me go 
when he told me about it....
He was in Lisbon, Portugal with some buddies. He lives in Dallas and went to college in Illinois. He is Asian and his buddies were joking than all Asians know each other. They are in a car at that moment and his friend points, “Oh, look, there’s one!”
.....and my colleague actually knew her from college.
He rolled down the window, yelled her name, and gave her a high five while driving past. She lives in Shanghai, China as a designer and was in Lisbon touring hotels. My friend reconnected with her and they have been dating for the last 8 months or so. Until that moment, he hadn’t seen or spoken to her in 7-8 years.

Randomly see each other in Lisbon on the street
Start long distance dating
If that is not a twist of fate, then I do not know what is. I think the probability of this encounter is 1 / infinity
