I wasn’t even planning on getting in an argument with anyone in this thread, I just want to scroll. But then you’ve got idiots like night vision saying that everyone young person that wants a house should just go buy some land and get a few buddies to help build the thing makes it hard not to respond…

The need to even visit this hypothetical city is even less than ever with the build out of suburbia and WFH culture.
I agree it is more challenging to buy now versus previous generations. I am not sure how that is exclusive to this current youth. It is obvious that expectations have soared as well.

That depends. When we first moved to the metro Atlanta area we lived an hour out. They built big neighborhoods and cheap houses. My parents always complained about traffic. As time went on and they made more money, we moved in the perimeter. Where we lived at first is where the Hispanics live now.
Those cheaper houses are still there. They didn't move further out, immigrants moved in.

True. And I definitely sympathize more with the angsty non-homeowner millenials over the “if you didn’t buy Starbucks” boomer types. Unfortunately, I think it’s only going to get progressively worse for the younger generations.
