Is this the one where the large group of tourists left the restaurant they were at, saw the rape, tried to get help, then shrugged their shoulders, walked off, and left the guy to his raping? That's how the last story like this went. That one named the witness, though, and told that she was from up North somewhere.

Sorry, this story really upsets me. It's pretty horrible. And I am having trouble accepting the fact people would be so quick to act like this is made up and could have never happened in lovely New Orleans... in the French Quarter of all places. The violent crime in New Orleans (and Louisiana) is one of the main reasons I moved.

Yeah, it’s a backwards world when they called out the guy who quit before his shift bc he feared for his life and they won’t call out the guy, who didn’t quit, so he was still responsible for attempting to do his job that night, yet didn’t at all.
If I had to guess, the guy who quit wasn’t the right shade, to earn some anonymity and compassion, and the guy who allowed to let the rape happen down the street, was the right shade. Almost hate to make an assumption like that, but that is how things seem to be reported in 2022 for whatever reason.
