'He's still not even coming!' NOPD officer stood by during French Quarter rape

Nola.com
quote:

A New Orleans police officer was flagged down late on a recent Tuesday night in the French Quarter by a witness who delivered a distressing message: A block away, she saw a man raping an unconscious woman in plain view on the street corner.

But over the next three minutes, the officer didn't budge, according to the witness, who was on the phone with 911. She grew increasingly frantic as the minutes passed, according to audio from the call.

“This officer hasn’t even moved!” the witness told the dispatcher. Another marked unit had already driven past the scene without stopping, she added.

Two minutes passed. “He’s still not even coming!” the witness said.

The dispatcher also became exasperated, “Ma’am, this is … I can’t speak freely … I understand,” the dispatcher said.

The witness returned to the corner and found the victim without a pulse. The man had fled.

“He’s f***ing gone!” she said. “This f***ing cop is still a block away and this girl got raped on the street corner!”

Elections have consequences.
NOLA isn’t safe, you have now been warned.
What more do you want?

That story is just sick and the fact they’re hiding the officer’s name that didn’t respond is absurd.

Without any incentive to hire decent officers, the only ones they are gonna get are gonna basically just show up to work to collect a check

It could be the same one if the details are the same. But it isn’t fake—

Officer should be charged with rape as well. He was an accomplice.

That headline is actually kind of misleading. If you read on, you learn there were two separate units on scene 4 mins after dispatch entered the information. Like the fastest response time in history for them.

quote:

A 911 call log shows the dispatcher didn't enter the call into the system until 11:21 p.m., more than a minute after the call began. It took roughly another minute for police to dispatch a unit.

The first responding officer arrived at 11:24 p.m. and an additional unit arrived a minute later, NOPD spokesperson Gary Scheets said.

That's some pretty dramatic reporting.

Uh yeah, after the rapist finished in the woman and ran off

it would be pretty dramatic to you too if you saw someone being stabbed or raped and when you notify an officer who is on scene, he sits in his car for 4 minutes and lets dispatch handle it

A liberal white woman called the cops and said there was a rape. It must be true

So you’re on the jury and would let the rapist go because she’s liberal, despite the corroborating evidence like officer statements and audio recording ?
