What does this have to do with the Super Bowl half time show?

I, frankly, like, forward my s*** to the governor. Like, I generally don't have a problem. I would love to become a national celebrity (laughter from students) based on what I said in this class. Like, f*** the governor. (student laughter.)

That goes to the governor, and then he’s like, ‘He’s politically correct,’ and I’m like, ‘That wasn’t politically correct. I said ‘f*** you.’ [unclear comments] Taken out of context I might seem like a bit of an a**h***.

This is what Landry got his panties in such a wad about? Come on, man.

Finally listened to the audio of what he said. It's pretty absurd they suspended him for that. If this had happened a couple of years ago and the professor was a conservative, saying the exact same things about the governor and president, I doubt many on here would be cheering for his suspension.

Seems like the judge made the right decision in ordering him to be re-instated.

Interesting tidbit:

quote:

LSU President William Tate IV was among those who took the witness stand.

Tate said on Tuesday "it was my decision" to suspend Ken Levy.

Tate said from the stand that he learned of a student complaint about Levy and asked Provost Roy Haggerty to look into the matter. The provost, Tate said, shared with him a transcript of comments Levy made in class. Tate then decided to suspend Levy based on the comments in the transcript, he said.

"I never talked to the governor," Tate said, referring to the Levy matter.

of course not... it's only wrong when the other side (whatever side that may be) does it... but if it's on "my side", then it's ok...

of course he did... pretty clear case of the 1st Amendment, IMO

So what says you on the fact that never happens?

Hmmmmm ? It’s always these piece of shite liberals who act like this.

Also they are out of touch with reality, I bet this guy thought everyone would agree with him.

Let me know when it comes from a conservative professor. Even when I was in college during the late 80s into the early 90s it was always a leftist rant. "Critical thinking" meant you took the left, maybe sometimes the center left position on issues when providing answers or writing papers.

What this guy said in this instance just seems typical to me. I'm surprised he got suspended. .maybe people are tired of it. Maybe people are concerned they have to tailor their speech to his ideas lest their grades suffer.

Couldn't you make this argument against any professor that shares their political party allegiance and their passion for it?

And I don't even think the classroom is a place to be sharing that information either, but I'm not for outlawing somebody from doing that either.

It's not clear at all. As a professor, you can't just say anything you want. That guy has no place in education.

Yeah. I did it throughout my college years. It was crap, but I know biases impact grades.

These instructors should behave like professionals and keep their personal crap out of the classroom. I suspect that's too much to ask though.

Naah! That shite has been going on forever.

When I was a college student in 1960, my World History Teacher made the statement, "Liberals are more intelligent than Conservatives".

I knew it was a Lie. If he was so intelligent he wouldn't have been a teacher he would have been a do'er.

Exactly. Given the diatribe this guy just went on, can you really say that a conservative Republican law student would feel comfortable having an honest dialogue in his class? I’d say those students now have their speech suppressed.

LSU lawyers weren't able to prove that any students felt threatened by the remarks:
quote:

"Tenure is to be respected," he said. "It vests in that professor certain academic freedom that they should be afforded in a classroom. They should be able to tell if they're a tree-hugging liberal or a certain-flag-waiving conservative."

The judge also said LSU failed to present evidence that students felt their grades were being threatened by Levy.

Let's not rush to judgement on this.

Landry is kind of an idiot.
