Exactly. I have two with a third on the way. Kids are expensive. Daycare, even a moderately priced one like we used with our daughter, and the first year for our son, cost almost as much as college tuition annually. I'm glad they give a dependent care break so that my wife could keep working. Although it didn't cover 1/2 of it. Back then the cap was $5k annually. I think we paid over $800 a month, so over $10k for the year once you add in registration fees and supplies we had to buy for it.

That got cut from the bill. Grad school money is not income.

Why does a single person pay more taxes
Because they have more disposable income.
And because they’re possibly gay.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears that literally everyone is getting a tax break
You/we might get a tax break but your expenses are going up big time:
Without the individual mandate to buy health insurance it's estimated that 13 million Americans simply won't. What do you think 13 million fewer - ostensibly healthy - people not buying insurance is going to do to your rate? The CBO predicts that premiums will rise 10% every year for the next ten.

Good. It shouldn't be.

My cats have already been declawed and skinned alive by this tax reform.

I wish I was gay. It'd be so much easier...

You also benefit from living in an educated society. I love when people bitch about taxes because they don't personally have kids in school yet these other people's kids will grow up and live among you one day. Don't you want to live among more educated and contributing members of society?

That’s very fuzzy math. Those people were not paying the mandate anyways.
There was a reason why the mandate wasn’t scheduled to try go in effect during BO reighn.

A large majority of those people would be highly subsidized anyway. I read a WSJ article that a couple quit their jobs and became "self employed atridtd." They made $41,000 a year together and plaid $12 a month for Obamacare. frick them, they DECIDED to be bums because it was subsidized.

So less than the average over the last couple of years? If you actually look at the data unbiasedly, this is going to make pretty much no difference. The less than $700 penanlty had almost no affect on people buying or not buying insurance.

Any tax break I get from the bill will end up offset by the hit to scholarships/grants for grad school for me because of stipends and such now being taxable income.
This right here is a load of shite for students

But having kids is a choice that is very controllable.
This is essentially the government bribing the constituency to have kids.
Don't get me wrong, having kids is a not a bad thing at all, but let's not act like this is some uncontrollable thing that just "happens" and you should be rewarded for it.

Since I have 3 kids and elect not to send them to public schools lessening the tax burden on you, should I get a “pass” from paying taxes?

I don't remember the percentage, but there's a small sliver of individuals who have an employer and buy insurance from the marketplace instead of employer-provided insurance.
So most individuals insurance wont go up that much if at all. My insurance went up 2 bucks because we switched providers and have better coverage.
