an electric version of the very first Datsun/Toyota ultra basic trucks.

I want an ICE basic vehicle like that. Simple, uncomplicated, reliable, affordable. I shouldn't be forced to buy electric to get that.

Yea man just sell Kei Trucks in American. Japan and Korea has decades of making small shite boxes that are actually great and functional cars. Would love to putz around New Orleans in a kei truck. Make it a manual transmission and I’ll leave it unlocked with the keys in it.

The air bag package, if there is one, would kill a grown man.

This is a very narrow market truck. You cannot expect people that want a full-sized pickup to respond with "oh hell yes I would absolutely stick my dick into the outlet of that truck.

The market is not as narrow as you think. Demand for these were so great that we instituted both Chicken Tax and CAFE standards to keep them away.

Almost every OT thread involving trucks ends up going -
Trucks are ridiculously expensive. Automakers would making a killing if they made X small pick up truck - insert pic of 90s ford ranger, toyota .

And then some thread gets posted about a small pick up truck that some company is developing and the OT reams the truck and says I'll never drive that little POS.

Rinse, repeat.

I would buy it, if it had an ICE. I have zero interest in buying an EV.

I said it the original thread discussing this… I’m a fan. We need some affordable secondary vehicles for urban areas and being a utility truck is a bonus

On second look (or just a look beyond the pics of the base model), I agree with this.

And further, this is an EV with some actual thought put into it. It’s the antithesis of the F150 lightning. This is a practical way to adopt EVs

If it's a start up company what happens if you buy one and the company folds?

Can you still get parts and service?

Accurate. Either that or you’ve never read any truck thread.

Jeff bezos has more data on what consumers want than anyone on the planet, except maybe Google.

There’s a lot of bets I would make, but betting against Amazon data isn’t one of them.

Without a full size bed, it’s a non-starter for me
