So let's change chips to fries, inflate the price slightly for each individual item so that we can reach some number you pulled out your arse. And then lets throw in some random travel time and fees to cushion it.
Hell, my meal at McDonalds is only $6, but if you count the mileage to get there, the cost of my time, the cost of capital used to purchase said sandwich, and then just round the price up to 10 bucks because it's pretty much there anyway........McDonalds is basically $50 a meal.

We are 50 miles outside the city and average price here is 400-500k.

I view a couple who makes 100k a year the same way I view a couple making 250k. They are just paying their bills. Just normal PTA - carpooling , cupcake- baking living . For all the ridicule the OP budget has drawn - it’s just people living the life that a college graduate couple lives. 95% of us make choices with our money that another guy would not - but basically it’s the same nondescript life.

I've argued this previously. I know everyone has a little bit different definition of what middle class is. But on good years before wife took a different job, we might sniff this as a family and you don't feel "rich". Certainly not trying to say it's the same fight that a middle class family putting 3 kids through school on 70k a year is going through (how I grew up). But you have much more in common with the middle class than the true upper class. Now yes, everything is more comfortable. You aren't worrying about making payments and you probably have nicer things. But it's not like you are drowning in excess cash to buy a yacht either.

They actually have at least $20,700 in disposable income when you reclassify just the vacations, charity, and "children's lessons" (which sounds like some alien term coined by whatever sad foreveralone liberal accountant put this table together).

Their job likely wouldn't pay 100k outside of there. Regardless though it's doable, and their budget shows just that. They are putting away more money than many families, and still have a large portion of discretionary spending.

Yep. It happens. Real food for a family of 4 is expensive. I don't really budget for anything but AMEX has the little pie chart thing that breaks down your expenditures. Rarely is food under $1000/month. Crazy.
