Big bend is the least populated coastal area of Florida. I suppose that’s the best place for it to hit if it must hit. I hate it for the people it does effect.
I am in no way wishcasting it on them.

Trough will have counterclockwise winds around it. Thats to the west, so will be pushing N to NE.

Ridge has clockwise winds around it. It is to the east, so will be also pushing N to NE.

Its gonna go N to NE

Appreciate the clear explanation, both to you and Cosmos. I have a buddy in Tampa. Watching this closely. I've learned a lot from you guys.

Usually the saving grace for this area storms are a bit weakened by the right side being over land. But the track of this storm is unfortunately might be the worst case path for this area of Florida. Hopefully this is a fast mover.

Is there any expectation on this system, as to whether it may drift more eastern, or western, based on what's above the states

My bias is to put the track a little east. Cutoff low (trough mentioned above) may want to push a little farther east. In addition, shear from the storm in the PAC would probably push it a little east in the early going.

This is Baton Rouge local weather forecaster, if it helps anyone rest a little easier, of course Francine was a little stronger then the experts predicted

Development odds listed at 90% with #97L as of 7 AM but I'd place them close to 100%. Most signs point toward a Florida threat this morning, but we'll continue to monitor.
*Some* guidance shows the potential for a major hurricane although there less confidence in that currently. There is some potential that drier air & wind shear could be in play late in the week.

ending up in St. Louis? That’s really odd

Yup, definitely not normal movement. There's a low pressure that will move in to LA, the storm may want to ride that circulation up and around it a bit to the west once it's well ashore.

Northeastern Arkansas from Forrest City to Jonesboro looks screwed in that graphic

Last one screwed them, this one would finish them off. Soybeans are already sprouting in pods due to all the rain earlier this month.

I'm supposed to be in Nashville this weekend. How screwed am I? This damn storm looks like it hooks left and goes right over Tennessee this weekend.

That's what I'm saying. I finally get to be that guy.

But seriously, it hooks over on top of Tennessee, wth. I wonder what intensity it'll still be that far north. I was expecting some nice, cool, fall weather, not a freakin tropical system.
