That news report model showing Tampa isn’t what the national hurricane center is showing

Most spaghetti models have it hitting anywhere form Gulf Shores to Tallahassee

Just worth pointing out the NHC isn’t showing anything with respect to landfall predictions.

Tampa is on the eastern edge of most of the probable solutions.

You lose a roof on a $15M house in Rosemary and you’re talking millions in losses from water and wind damage alone.

I get the point you’re making but those homes are not 15+mm because of the home. The land costs 10mm or more just to start.

In other words the person could be land rich while being house poor. 500k home on a 10 million dollar lot. Most places it is always the opposite, you are house rich and land poor on your 100x100 DSLD lot.

Oh, so your camp not worth more than $50K? understood. Easy to justify self insuring that. Most pepole cannot afford to self insure a large loss.

Fox 8 just said the GFS & Euro are like the WNBA, not worth watching. They’re already locked into the GRAF for this one.

Based on what? Is that what other people are seeing?

Seems like a lot of local stations make stuff up based on gut instinct.

The local guy down here was telling everyone this would be a TS/low end cat 1 yesterday morning. It’s one thing to pretend you’re Bill Paxton throwing up grass in Twister when you’re some rando on Facebook.

It’s a much different situation when you have hundreds of thousands of people deciding whether to evac based on your “gut instinct” that you present as educated fact to people who have no way of knowing what’s true or not.

The NHC doesn’t issue advisories on invests unless they are a threat to land within 48 hours, in which case they’ll issue an advisory on a potential tropical cyclone.

Wouldn’t it technically be threat to land (Cancun and tip of Cuba) within 48hrs at this point? Or is it only issued for potential US impacts?

Hurricane hunter aircraft is scheduled to depart at 0930 CDT and be in the area around 1230 CDT.

Mission should provide good information for use in the models.

I've been a long time lurker here, and these storm threads are always so helpful and informative. Here goes my 1st post..

My son is in college near Orlando. My wife is supposed to drive from Dothan, AL to Orlando on Wednesday afternoon, meet my son, spend the night in Orlando, and then fly out with my son on an 11:00 AM flight to Texas.

We are not travel experts, and certainly not weather experts. Based off of the currently available information, is that travel scenario screwed? Taking an earlier flight out, or a much later flight out is not an option. It was already a very tight travel window.

Too early to tell, but definitely wise to keep an eye on this thread.

Ida came right over the top of my house as a cat 3 2,200 dollars damage would have been about two years of insurance payments the deductale would have cost more.

So, you lost a gate? My damage for Ida wasn’t bad (lost my fence, shed was destroyed, a little buckled hardwood from wind driven rain into the foyer), and it still ended up being close to a $40K claim.

Im scheduled to go into Orlando for business tomorrow afternoon and out Thursday morning... Will likely cancel and not risk getting stuck.

If it is where its supposed to be Thursday morning, West of Tampa and south of Tallahassee, you can expect air travel to start getting disrupted sometime Wednesday afternoon.
