Thank you for doing that. They’re small towns so probably don’t get a lot of mentions.

We eat at the restaurants in that picture. This is very sad for that area. It’s a beautiful area with wonderful people.

We had the great flood here in 2016 and it was really bad. But this total destruction is just unreal. I’ve never seen anything like this… .

I think Helene beats Katrina. And I remember that 2016 flood. 3 family members’ homes were ruined.

I saw a picture of it nearly completely underwater. Doubt it.

Link? I watched the live stream of that house and the water never made it to the actual house other than the tops of the waves. What do you mean it was nearly completely underwater?

There was a pic earlier in the thread and the water was covering more than 2/3 of the house.

The nicest areas of Columbia SC are wrecked. I am headed up from the beach in the morning to start sawing people out of their homes.

Several other people were having trouble getting in touch with family there. Try texting instead of calling if you can. A lot of times it is easier to get through via text. It is probably just nearly impossible to get through right now. I hope you hear from them soon.

Those mountain floods are different. It is all devastating, but adding gravity to the mix just does so much more catastrophic damage.

I talked to someone in Thomasville today. He said they were really lucky the Hurricane shifted 30 miles to the East right at, or just after, landfall. Some residents did lose power but most still have power in the city limits. Valdosta to the East was hit much harder.

Thanks. We have texted and called. They are on high ground and the info we have found about the area points to communication issues so that’s reassuring. Still, not knowing for sure is hard.

Ngl, I'd take my chances in the water or try to get to the roof vs getting in the attic.

Hot Springs and Damascus are two of my favorite trail towns. Looks like both were heavily impacted by flood waters.
