We will be in the Islands this weekend. Time for little girl to meet her great grandparents and cousins. My grandma is in the nursing home in Nunez and want her to hold the Bebe before she can’t anymore.

What a special trip. And your mom will surely enjoy it too. Take lots of pics .. she’ll treasure them one day!! I know my parents are so so happy to have visited with their only (so far) great grandchild a few times.

Safe travels to you and yours.

ugh, if this truly is another Michael-caliber storm, then God bless everyone in its path. Some of the wildest storm damage I've ever seen, up there with 4/27/11 in Tuscaloosa. My cousin and his wife in Crawfordville haven't even been in their house for a year. Their first house.

Now that this is looking pretty bad, who are going to be the idiot storm chasers we can follow that will be in this mess?

Not a storm chaser but we will be attempting to somehow drive through to Orlando Friday night through Saturday.

I'm sure it will be next to impossible but we will try

Because we have a non refundable vacation, so we gonna do what we have to do.

Storm will be past but not sure how the roadways will be or which detours may be available, but guess we will FAFO

That truck looks to be too nice to be a storm chaser not a scratch on it. Most have hail and other damage. Maybe he stays far enough away?

At least humor is with some pics.

Seriously though, you realize you'll likely not find gas, right? Your family will end up stranded on the interstate.

A large major hurricane moving quickly. Its going to be impressive how widespread the impacts are with this one.

Well, for a little bit of possibly good news, the ICON went from 940 mb lowest pressure previous run to 948 mb on this run. Track was a very small eastward shift - probably no more than 10 miles.

Landfall time was a little slower and looks to be approximately 02Z (10 PM EDT / 9 PM CDT).

I'd be shocked if I-10 (or any W-E route really) from Panama City through Tallahassee was passable by then, but good luck.

Power lines.
Downed trees.
Flooded roads.
Debris causing flat tires.

This is a bad plan.

Go early and get a hotel room until check in if you can’t cancel.

If you get into trouble you’re diverting resources from people who really need it.

And then there's, of course, that issue.

When did the Gulf of Mexico become 'ocean water' and to which Ocean does it belong?
