This is a mutation that has never been seen before,” Hensley said.

Most flu vaccines contain a piece of the flu virus and almost all of them aim at a structure called hemagglutinin, which helps flu viruses attach to the cells they infect.

This one makes the virus grow a big sugar compound on top of hemagglutinin, Hensley said. It stops the body’s immune virus from responding to the vaccine.

how growing flu vaccines in eggs is causing them to mutate..

Flu shot is not effective this year.

Just be aware that it is a rough year. The biggest killer with the flu is the secondary pneumonia that arises. It can often be due to Staph and advances very quickly.

Just a friendly PSA.

Not if it causes more negative effects than positive ones. And I don’t trust our govt to not use vaccines as a means for population control.

If he had the flu then, by definition, he wasn't "healthy."

The last real nasty pandemic, the Spanish Flu of 1917, targeted healthy individuals vs the old and very young.

2-3% if not more of the world's population died.

Yep. Read a couple books about that epidemic and it really did a number on the usually healthy aged citizens. Cytokine storm and the reaction to the flu I believe is what the book referenced being so deadly and it didn't sound like a very pleasant ailment to contract. WWI spread it like wildfire with mass troop movements and training bases.

Explain it to me then. Seriously. I've read about it quite a bit, but I'm interested in learning more.

Everything I've read says the flu shot leads to protection from those strands and more moderate reactions to other strands.

If someone can point me in the direction of a legitimate study that says you're better off without the flu shot, I'd appreciate it.

Isn't it true that young people are actually more susceptible to certain strains (Spanish, H1N1) because your immune system is what kills you? Cytokine Storm

I'm 31 and have never had a flu shot, nor had the flu.

I'm 1/1. Find me better results.

they don't know. He never came out, but he hung out with girls and most people assumed he was probably gay. he tested positive for the flu after not being able to shake a cold 2 weeks, took a turn for the worst and died within a month of appearing to be a completely healthy 24 year old.

I"m not saying a healthy 21 year old would never die from the flu, just that if they do, then they probably weren't "healthy". A truly healthy 21 year olds immune system can handle the flu. If they are dying from it, it's b/c something was off in their body, and they weren't as healthy as they appeared to be. It sucks.

if it gets into your lungs, you can most certainly die no matter what age you are.

A few young healthy people die from the flu every year, its just a fluke thing that happens

You go into ARDS and thats that

Exactly what happened to my brother-in-law a few years ago, he was 23 and had no pre-existing conditions. Went downhill fast and was gone within a couple of weeks.
