Yep. Those of you with commercial plans (Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, etc.) are getting raped by providers who have to cover their losses from being required to treat all the illegals and American-born trash that fill emergency rooms with bullshite, then either don't pay or have Medicaid, which essentially pays nothing.
The same goes for places that aren't an ER, like Woman's Hospital. You think a 17-year-old from Honduras is going to pay a penny to have her kid at Woman's? No, but you're damn sure getting billed whatever they want to charge to cover not only your stay but hers as well.
It is an accepted practice in the United States to overbill commercial payers to cover the losses incurred treating the deadbeat pieces of shite, which in turn means the producers continue to get wrecked to support the takers.

Some providers have gotten sneaky.
Some already know what your insurance will pay and demand payment in advance like a doctor’s copay.
I am dreading next week as I have an ultrasound study of both legs next week. UHC estimates show the procedure costing 419 dollars and estimates my costs at 85 dollars. Not sure if they are billing 419 with 85 dollars towards my 20% annual out of pocket deductible.

If you have ever sat down and reviewed a procedure done at the hospital or even a hospital stay longer than a day then you will see why Insurance cost are thru the roof. Seems like half the charges are made up. Maybe because they are trying to recoup losses for the non insured or something else but it is a shame that the working class is the ones getting screwed with higher rates every year.

The entire system is a disaster. It is easy to blame deadbeats and illegals but go look at the stock prices of the big 5 health insurance companies. That tells the truth about the fricked up ACA ObamaCare nonsense.

I did the same for a few years due to times being tough. Credit score was still in the mid-700s. My kids had some health issues and one had to be hospitalized. The bills that kept coming, $500 here, $4000 there, x 10, on top of me paying for a family plan PPO through my employer just became too much.

In 2000, my 4 chemo drugs were $3400 every 2 weeks…

I really wish the Republicans would have put some kind of effort into a healthcare bill while they have both chambers and the presidency.
I guess it's more beneficial for all parties involved to be able to complain about it at election time rather than try and fix it.

I live outside of America so i have an international health insurance policy.. i pay $125 usd per month (im 46) .. it covers me in just about every single country on the planet, i think my limit is $2,000,000 usd.. except, the one country i am NOT covered in is the USA.. my agent said it’s b/c insurers are wise to the USA healthcare/insurance racket and they dont want to be on the hook for a $75k bill if i break an arm or something while im visiting family ..recently i had to go to one of the hospitals in Asia for something relatively minor.. went to the ER of this hospital that looked more like a Four Seasons hotel.. within 5 min i was meeting with a Dr.. had x rays done, then consulted with another Dr , a specialist .. all of them spoke perfect English.. took less than an hour, they sent me on my way with a couple prescriptions- i paid out of pocket, didnt even use my insurance, and the whole thing, all in, cost me $65 usd.. US healthcare costs are fricking retarded .

Hospital and facility fee bloat is a big issue. Don't forget the pharmacy fee for the lidocaine they used.
I'll never forget how fast I learned that lesson when my residency clinic nurse gave me a flu shot because I couldn't get to the flu shot fair.
400 dollars. 200 facility fee. 100.pool pharmacy fee. 50 dollar shot. 50 dollar clinic visit
bullshite.

We're paying for the illegals in emergency.

I saw a doctor about a month ago. Charged $600 to talk for 10 minutes. He didn't have to test anything, didn't have to diagnose anything, just discuss a couple options.

FIFY.
If you don't think regular folks with insurance aren't subsdising the rest of the industry, I have news for you.

Both are true. The illegals and welfare fricks aren’t paying a dime for their services, so you’re covering them via your premiums and OOP. Those costs are inflated not only to cover the scum of society to keep hospitals afloat but also a very nice profit margin for the insurer.

If I was a physician in a clinic, I’d refuse to see Medicaid patients. They’re the least compliant and always loaded with health issues, and half the time they just don’t even show up for the appointment because their lives are train wrecks. The icing on the cake is I’d then get paid about 60% or less of what a very compliant, stable, polite patient covered by a commercial policy would pay.

The law of supply and demand always wins.
Artificially inflated demand from government programs (medicare/medicaid/obamacare) causes a high demand for services, then dictates what they will pay for said services.
Health care industry rises to meet the demand, but loses money on government demand, so they pass the cost along to private market. Procedure cost and private insurance rates skyrocket.
But the government achieved their goal: more and more people are dependent on them.
