IMO, this will never be “the greatest country in the world” without “free” healthcare

Healthcare will never be free.

And I'm not about to entrust my healthcare to an entity that has proven time and again to be massively inept and inefficient in everything they do.

I would've saved like $3k over the same time period. My company requires yearly physical as well so that would've been $500+ out of pocket each year. So cut that down to $1500 in savings over a few years.

Just because you've saved money by not buying insurance doesn't mean everyone else is getting fricked. My deductible is $700 and I pay $65 a month.

And I don't have to worry about this shite. That's no way to live.

BCBS just sent me my 2018 health insurance premium renewal notice. These greedy bastards want $3100 a month and when you factor in total paid premium and deductible that I will have to pay for 2018 it would equal $43,000 before the insurance company picks up dollar one.

This is so fricking ridiculous it defies logic.

What defies logic is that there are people being subsidized and paying pennies on the dollar while the rest of us pay an exorbitant premium in order to pick up the difference. Welcome to Socialist America.

You also have to think of the time frame.

It's roughly ~1500 savings per year.

And I seriously doubt most folks are saving that in their bank account.

Yeah I think both sides of the argument can agree that ACA is a fricking shitshow.

I was going to make a joke about the difference between $3100 a month and what I pay for my employer-sponsored plan, but it's beyond humor.

I'll potentially need to extend my working career by several years in order to pay for health insurance between retirement and 65 years old.

im happy for you and thats a reasonable amount to pay.

also, i dont know where you live but many cities offer free physicals; Lucas House Clinic in new orleans, for example, has a service.

so i do that and then pay $250 for my own blood panel every year.

Saving $800ish a year is not worth the potential of a serious medical event draining my bank accounts. I chose my employer because they offered a great medical plan at little cost to me. I did the self employed run for 6 years and got tired of it.

gofundme

naa, id pay out of pocket for something minor. you can usually negotiate if youre paying in cash.

for something serious, id move all my assets into bitcoin and declare bankruptcy

what a way to live, thanks obama and thanks trump for no repeal/replace
