yep 2.5% of your AGI.
So if you really feel brazen about your health, whats ~1250 bucks (50k AGI)

For tax year 2017, the penalty is 2.5% of your total household adjusted gross income, or $695 per adult and $347.50 per child, up to a maximum of $2,085. For tax year 2018 and beyond, the penalty amounts have not been announced, but are expected to increase

At a metric frick ton higher rate than we pay, for far fewer people, a more homogenous society, wait times that are ridiculous and no life-saving procedures after a certain age.
Why do you think that people with money in countries with "free" healthcare come to the US for treatment? It's because they can.

So, the ACA stifles small business creation and innovation?
It's not like they built it themselves anyway

Yeah honestly if I didn't receive through my company I'd just say frick it and pay the penalty. If I needed to pay for something big like cancer treatment I'll just start selling meth.

BCBS just sent me my 2018 health insurance premium renewal notice. These greedy bastards want $3100 a month and when you factor in total paid premium and deductible that I will have to pay for 2018 it would equal $43,000 before the insurance company picks up dollar one.
Think it's approaching that time to apply for dual-citizenship somewhere

This is my first year being self employed
The income taxes, the self-employment taxes, and the medical tax is insane. I have built a pretty damn successful little small business and I wouldn't be shocked if I jump ship to another business because of all the damn taxes.

What if you don't have a couple of months?
Pretty sure that's considered an emergency.
Not if it's diagnostic.

The only reasonable thing to do is go down to the BCBS office and have a polite discussion with someone in a management position. Explain to them that you are trying to raise a family and paying so much for health insurance is greatly reducing your quality of life. After the meeting, when you're leaving the building, have a slip and fall accident and sue them for $15mm.

Well trump got rid of government healthcare subsidies which most people qualify for to some capacity. What do you expect?
Obamacare, dipshit. It's cute you are trying to pass the buck though. Let me guess, it was her turn?
