re: having a third child in today's two child world

My wife has baby fever and is pressuring me for a 3rd. Mine are 9 and 10 right now and I have zero desire to start over. Honestly the only reason I'm even considering it is to bless the world with another white baby.

my 3rd is 7 months old. I can't say it is a big deal but age spacing is critical as it has a huge impact to the stress level.
3 kids all under 4 would be hell. If you have 3 but your oldest is 5+, it really isn't much different than having 2 little ones.

My wife asked me last night when we were going to start trying for a second child. Then my 2 year old threw a bitch fit because I wouldn't let him dump sand on our dog and I believe that convinced her to put that kind of talk away for another year. Once we have a second one (hoping for just one), I am getting snipped.

most insurance just have a "family" plan, no? which covers all children no matter if its just 1 or 8, right?

My question to all of you is how in the flipping hell are yall able to afford 3 kids???
Not all of you have 150K+ jobs....
Who's footing the bill?

That's what I would think, too. You need to be able to reason with at least one of them. And if they're all under the age of 4, that's like reasoning with a terrorist. Can't and won't do it.

I have 4 boys..one of them lives with his mom though...but I couldn't imagine not having all of them..they make me happy
two child world?...that's sounds very cliché and dumb

I think it depends how close they are in age. I have two girls 11 and 14 and then a 4 year old boy. The girls help take care of the little guy, and both understand the responsibility of having a little one, so hopefully that affects their decisions.
It is expensive to eat out and you have to get a large SUV to go anywhere that requires luggage, but it is a lot of fun and I wouldn't change it.
My cousin has 3 under 5 years, and that is absolute craziness.

It seems like everything in our society is built for a two parent/two child nuclear family.
Huh?

I've been told by numerous people that the transition from one to two was easy, but two to three rocked their world
How would one more child "rock their world"?

how did it change the family, the dynamics, the vacations, eating out, and most importantly--your sanity.
Change the family? You've got a third kid. That's how it changes the family.
Dynamics? You know how an oldest child, middle child, and youngest child.
Vacations? A third child is really going to just throw a kink in it all and dictate where we go.
Eating out? Instead of getting a table, you ask to sit in a booth...Einstein.
Sanity? For fricks sake. You are raising one more kid. It isn't that hard. Spend a little more time at the office, make a little more money, that's about it.

well adding kid #3 means the parents are now outnumbered
no more "you take that one and I'll take this one"

I've been pushing for only 1 kid, my wife originally wanted 3. I think we'll probably end up with 2

I figure I'm going meet my deductible with kids, so why not just meet it a little faster (by march since you know they will all get the flu) so that your stress induced therapy sessions in June are basically free?

Yeah you gotta switch to the zone when the third one comes along.

Huh? In most plans it makes no difference if there is one child or ten children.
Never seen this.
Only seen a cost per life.
Must be nice to have a plan where the premiums don't change when you add kids. haha

If you avoid private school kids aren't that expensive

Sooooo... we've found the guy without kids who chose to comment in a thread about what it's like to have kids. There's always at least one.

Our 4th arrives in September. Currently he have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and 1 year old. Going from 2 to 3 was a little more difficult but it all works out.

Really? I've never seen a family plan that took number of children into account for premiums. Always a flat rate. Adding a spouse is typically a lot more expensive than adding a dozen kids.
