spinoff from the bedroom sharing thread.

It seems like everything in our society is built for a two parent/two child nuclear family. So for those who decided (or didn't necessarily "decide") to have a third kid...how did it change the family, the dynamics, the vacations, eating out, and most importantly--your sanity.

I've been told by numerous people that the transition from one to two was easy, but two to three rocked their world. And there's also the possibility of twins. My best friend decided they wanted a third, and she is scheduled to have her twins in three weeks. She's going to have a three year old, an almost two year old, and infant twins. I get terror induced goosebumps just thinking about it.

You know what the worst part is about having multiple children? The health insurance premiums.

I'm bringing zero children into today's two child world.

You just offset my situation by one child. You are having it for me. Good luck, my friend. Raise our child well.

I have 5. The biggest change to me was going from zero to one. It's expensive AF now especially when they hit high school and college, start driving etc. We have/had them all in private school so that isn't a necessary expense obviously but one we feel is worth it.

ps - all with same baby momma

In the words of Jim Gaffigan...

Imagine you're drowning, and then someone hands you a baby.

I can't imagine having 3 kids, seems like that would suck.

Explain.

My health insurance through my job didn't change when I added another kid.

And salmon, I agree. She's in denial about the reality of how hard it's going to be, saying she's already had two infants so two more doesn't scare her. No, you've not had two infants at the same time, in addition to two highly energetic toddlers! I'm just going to send coffee and wine care packages to her house. And will take the oldest child off her hands as she is the same age as my son and they play well together. But that's all I got

Huh? In most plans it makes no difference if there is one child or ten children.

You quoting that in the other thread caused me to start this one

You think 3+ is too many? You must not be on welfare.

I think Nurse may have said it, but it's been my go to explanation ever since our third was born giving us 3 under 2.5 years old.

When we went in for the first ultrasound for our second I was holding my breath until the moment I only saw one little heartbeat. Twins run in my family so I've always feared that possibility. Yes, all babies are a blessing but I'm only cut out to deal with one at a time.
