How did it work out?

I co-signed on a car loan for my ex-wife when we were dating.
She paid it off, but of course then screwed me in the divorce.

I didn't consider it a loan. Just a gift

I wouldn’t loan money to anyone. I’ll give it as a gift if I can feel good about giving with no expectation. Loaning changes the dynamic of a relationship, whether it’s family, friend, or romantic.

No, banks exist. If I ever need a loan, that’s where I go. I’ve never lent a sizable amount of money to anyone I know.

I had this really nice girlfriend when I graduated college, she was little down on her luck and asked me to lend her $100.00.

Six months or so went by with no mention of it, but I had moved off to work and we split. So I wrote her a letter and asked for it.

She sent it with a note stating "Don't Spend It All In One Place", I still feel bad for even asking her to pay it back

Never loan money to family or friends. Either give it to them or tell them no.

I've offered, but the interest I charge is in the form of steadily escalating acts of perversion and submission on the part of the borrower.

I am the primary on the car she is driving and paying for. If she ever turns on me for whatever reason, mine.

This is pretty much correct.

I did it once for a prior girlfriend. Suddenly she was an ex not too long after.

Consider it writing on the walls.

Yes..I was dating a girl that had a bad gambling habit (video poker)..She blamed me because of my schedule at work.. She borrowed money from me to cover her loses. It got worse when a bunch of gift cards at her work came up missing..The big big boss put the heat on her and she denied it and was never charged and kept her job..If think she did it. She is the only GF I wish I had never met or knew existed.
