Have you ever heard your hamstring make a popping sound?

I was doing deadlifts and felt a sharp pain in my hamstring. It also made a popping sound which the guy I was working out with heard, too. There was no bruising or swelling. I could walk fine. It hurt to bend my leg or squat down. I iced it the first couple days and talked to a PT about it. He said just let it heal for a couple weeks. I don't think I tore it because it's been 5 days and it's feeling fine now.
I've had broken bones that popped and joints that pop all the time, but I didn't know muscles popped. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, because my hamstrings aren't trashy.
I kid, I kid.

Happened to me while sprinting a few years ago. Didn't know a pop that loud could come from your leg! Doctor said to just rest it.
Healed up fine after a couple of weeks.

My rear delt popped when I was repping 600 on deadlift last year and bruised pretty bad
It went away and didn’t have any lasting effect

No, only because the noise my knees make would probably overpower it and I wouldn't hear it

Sure it wasn’t a hemorrhoid going from an innie to an outie?

Yes.
I tore my hamstring racing my little brother. I was 37 and he was 24 at the time. My hamstring "popped" midway through the race.
I spent the next 4 weeks in rehab.

Yep. Happened to me a couple of months ago.
I'm over 50 and was trying to recapture my youth by slalom waterskiing, but on coming out of the water on the first big pull my front leg and the ski slipped forward towards the boat and felt a very loud pop in my leg. It was a borderline grade 2/3 sprain, so a tear but not as bad as it could be. Took a couple of weeks and some exercises to have it stop nagging me.

It sucks when you are ready to extend your leg and a couple of muscle strains are not being cooperative.

Yes. Trying to stretch a double into a triple, just as I was rounding second base. I had to crawl back to the bag and be carried off.
Far worse than tearing my ACL, IMO.

My IT band used to pop when I was working out and was loud enough for people around me to hear it. It never really hurt after but sort of hurt minimally when it happened.

As kids we used to know when Dad was up and about and where he was due to his knee popping. It could be heard through closed doors and walls.
Not surprisingly the noisy knee was the one he had to get replaced. He lost all the cartilage in it and was walking around bone on bone grinding with each step.

Mine did not make a popping sound when I tore it. Better take precautionary measures, as it set me back 8-9 months.

Much better than hearing your Achilles pop….
15 months out from that and still having trouble

Could have been a partial tear. It’s not one big muscle but a bunch of fibers, some of them could have let loose.

Yep. Last time that happened to me I was playing left field in a charity softball tournament. I failed to warm up properly before taking the field and around the middle of the game I was chasing down a long fly ball and heard it pop.
Had to come out the game and for the next 2 weeks I had a bad limp and the back of my leg was looking like a tie-dyed t-shirt it had so many different colors showing.

Yes. HS Football.
But it involved crippling pain and almost immediate immobilization at the time.
The bruising, as it emerged, was…colorful…purples, yellows, greens, and blacks.
