Only once where it was clear cut I shouldn't have been driving. At FIL's house for his son's YCP graduation party in Meaux (I married into a classy family). FIL started threatening to break my nose for his son getting too drunk, not sure how that was my issue. Wife slapped the shite out of him before I could. Had to leave while he was drunkenly trying to get his gun. Wife and I had both driven there so we had to get out of Dodge, she was sobered up due to slapping her dad, but I was not. Spent the entire drive from Meaux to Rayne focusing only on her brake lights. All I could really keep track of. Made it there in one piece. Never again.

This is full of details that paint a very flattering picture.

Of course I have. Some of you might be lying to yourself about whether you were drunk or not, but you were and you did.

When I was young, dumb, and broke....yes. If I'm driving, I'll just have a drink or two while I'm out these days. Anything more and it's time to get an Uber or Lyft.

With rideshare these days ubiquitous in most towns of any size, there's really no excuse to drive drunk. Didn't used to be that way...cabs were hard to find, non-existent and/or expensive.

yes, probably the dumbest thing I've ever done and I've done a lot of dumb shite. Haven't done it since I was 20 or so. I have a rule now, if I want to have more than 1 beer I need to arrange for a ride home.

Back in the ‘80s when I was in college, it was not considered a big deal. Getting busted for it was about like getting a speeding ticket. So yeah, I drove drunk several times back then.

When I was young and stupid but it also did not carry the stigma or penalties then that it does now. Now, if you drink and drive you're an idiot. There are so many choices available to get home safely now without getting behind the wheel.

In college. Not proud of any of it.

Was pulled over once. Got home from the bar, changed into pajamas, realized I had no food in the apartment, went to Cane's. Got pulled over speeding on the way back, in that undeveloped part of Burbank. Cop saw the pajamas and the Cane's and saw that I was only a couple blocks away from my apartment and let me go with a warning, said he was looking for drunk drivers Had I not stopped at my apartment first, I probably would have gone to jail that night

All drinkers have.

You can uber home, uber to your car in the morning and still end up in jail.

How drunk we talking? The only time I was tested, I was only "half drunk" according to NOPD.

I enjoy getting blackout drunk and driving. I call it time travel because you come to in the future in a different place from where you started drinking.

No excuses now with Uber/Lyft
Taxi in a big city back then but it wasn't easy getting a taxi in Baton Rouge since they were all out by the airport
