Yep, takes about it here plenty. Had a disease with a 15% mortality rate when treated and I came very close to some bad shite. I even kept all my limbs with minimal permenant damage.

I shot myself in the pelvis with a nail gun once and punctured femoral artery

Buried a 3" nail under the skin
Poked a hole in my artery and when I pulled the nail out (with a nail pull) blood sprayed out in a stream and then in spurts

Rushed to the ER and then to the OR. They took a vein out of my leg and patched me up. Had to slice through nerves and muscle to get to it and I'm still numb in places on my left leg

Twice

When I was 9, my best friend's younger brother threw a mattock(pickaxe with no pick) and accidentally hit me in the head. Doctor said a millimeter of movement or twisting in any direction and I would have been dead.

Second time was when i was 14. Was at a jumping off point and slipped on the wet rocks, started sliding the wrong way. Older guy that was with us grabbed my hand at the last possible second. My feet were dangling over a 40 ft drop with nothing but jagged rocks below. That one scared me quite a bit.

Went rafting in a 2 person kayak in Colorado with my brother. We're amateurs but he had read that this stretch was easy, classes 1-3. Unfortunately for us the area was in a drought so the river was shallower than normal, rockier, and faster than normal. We flipped trying to maneuver around a log that had fallen over blocking 3/4s of the river. I tried to grab onto the log but couldn't get a grip and went under it. It was only a few second but it felt like an age until I broke the surface. We walked out of the gorge and saw a guy carving marble in his shop who helped us out letting us borrow a rope to get our raft unstuck from a rock in the middle of the river. Come to find out an experienced rafter went missing along this same stretch of river a few weeks before. Let's just say that I am never going rafting without a guide again.

Have to say I've been in so many horrible car accidents that I have lost count, impaled, shot twice, dated a chilango princess half my age and bit by a deadly scorpian but the scariest was getting caught in an undertow.

Head on collision in 1984 on Highland Road when I was a senior at LSU. Lots of broken bones in my right foot and ankle.

Hydroplaned off of I-10 just across the state line in MS a few years ago. My car ended up on its side with the frame against a tree. Any other way would have surely been death. Walked away with just a bruise on my arm.

When I was about 11, a family member held a loaded M1911A1 to my face with the hammer pulled and threatened to kill me and 2 others of my family. Nothing has come close to that moment as the lowest point im my life.

When I was around 8, I was riding in the back of my grandpa's truck camper while on I-10 and I, being the fool, got up and opened the door which pulled wide open when my grandpa sped up to pass a car. I was hanging onto that little round door knob for dear life as my feet were at the edge of the tailgate. Luckily my brother was able to grab me and pull me back in.

ETA: It was a '70s style camper like this:

Everyday I'm still alive.
Actually when I was 5 my dad accidentally ran over a nail with his lawnmower at the same time I'm waving to him.My hand is right in front of my chest when nail shoots into my wrist.

New York, Shea Stadium 1987

Watching a game as a kid on the third base side of the field and I duck down to get my drink and a ball flies directly over my head, where my face would've been. I never knew what happened until I felt everyone around me kicking and grabbing for the ball.

All I can think of at the moment. Not as cool as the others, but it happened.

10 years ago tomorrow, a 110ft oak tree came barrelling into the roof of our house around 9am while I was watching the weather channel until the power went out. Had 11 people in the house and no one was hurt. We were very lucky.

Other than that, a few close call car crashes but nothing serious. I've never even broken a bone other than fingers/toes and never been admitted into a hospital.

Got ran off of the road when I was 16 by a drunk driver. swerved to miss him so that we did not hit head on and tires dropped off of the pavement. I made the classic rookie mistake I snatched it back. back end fishtailed and the truck rolled. Did not have a seat belt on and had the drivers side window down. I remember flipping and the next thing I know I am laying on the pavement as the truck is flipping over me. Only had a separated shoulder and my two friends who were in the bed of the truck survived unscathed. My dad still reminds me that I totaled his favorite truck.

I had a whipple surgery at age 35.

That counts.

That certainly counts - My M-I-L had that surgery back in 1965, Very low survivability back then - Hope it is much better now.

Traveling east on I-10 thru Beaumont TX at about 3am in a driving rainstorm. Nobody on the road but me and I was in the left lane speeding as fast as conditions allowed. Came over an overpass and met a car going the wrong way with no lights traveling much faster than me. Went hard right and the car passed within inches. Luckily nobody else on the road and I was able to regain control, but I used up all four of the lanes doing it.

Several other near miss accidents but nothing like that one.
