re: Have you ever been suspended or given a forced leave of absence by your employer?

Yeah took two months off, used enough of my vacation to cover my benefits. I didn't really have bills then since I was living in a sea can so I did cash jobs and drove around the county for 3 weeks. Came out smelling like a rose, didn't touch my savings. Worked at a brewery for a month so beer was free. I went back to work and left that department at my first opportunity.

Going to write the correct expression down on the notepad I keep in my chester drawers.
Don't forget French Benefits as well.

Ohhh I misunderstood. I read this as you would not use vacation at all and preferred to be at work.

Forced to "resign" from law enforcement for my drinking. Checked into rehab right after that and been sober ever since.

No man hell no, but at my current employer I’ve seen it happened.

Back story?
There was no work at the time and I got furloughed because I don't have kids. They make shitty decisions there.

I got ask to take a week off, but in fairness, I did get thrown in the clink. That was on a Friday, the "week" until Monday at 8:15 when I got a call to come back in.

Right when COVID became a huge ordeal in the US, my regional bosses were pressuring us to be overly cautious and take no chances with reporting to an assignment if you even have the sniffles.
One morning I woke up feeling like crap; I was short of breath, energyless, and had a stuffy nose. I called my superior and told him to leave me off any assignments for the day, I might have COVID. He tells me to go get tested and that if I'm taking the day off for sick leave, I can't return to work until I have a negative test result.
I felt like shite so I said okay.
I went to go get tested that morning, and at this point they didn't have the quick turnaround 30 minute results sites yet. They told me up front it would be 3-5 days for results, which I passed on to my boss.
The way my job works, you call your superior officer every morning for your possible assignment for the day (unless you're on a multi-day assignment). There's also a webpage we use for other things that might give you your assignment as well. If you're out sick, you're supposed to call every day and let them know that you won't be taking assignments that day as well.
My superior gets an inordinate amount of phone calls, so he understandably hates talking on the phone and keeps every convo short and concise.
I got tested on a Monday morning and let him know it would be 3-5 days until I could possibly get a negative result. He says ok. I call Tuesday morning to tell him no results yet so I won't be taking assignments, and he says ok.
I call him Wednesday morning and tell him the same, and he's clearly frustrated that I just wasted his time with this information. So I tell him "why don't i just call you when I get my results, instead of adding to your gauntlet of calls?" and he says ok.
I don't get results Thursday so I don't call in.
I finally get the results Friday and call my boss, they're negative. He then freaks out because I didn't call him Thursday at all, "we HAVE to call every day even if we're out sick or else it's a no call no show!"
I reminded him of our conversation on Wednesday, and he claims he didn't remember and that he has "dozens of calls a day!"
To make an already long story shorter, I got suspended for 3 days without pay for not calling in sick that Thursday. Even though I was only waiting for results, and even though I had talked to my superior every other day. They considered it the same as a no call no show.
I wasn't too upset by the suspension and 3 extra days off (now totaling 8 in a row), I was just upset about the suspension going in my file over such a stupid reason.
I enjoyed my week-plus vacation though, as all the symptoms I had Monday morning were gone by the next day and i felt great the whole time

I thought that I had asked you not to mention this on this board?

Disciplinary suspensions usually mean your job with that company is done. It may not be immediate, but it will usually be coming.

Got a 3 day suspension for breaking LOTO policy once.

Give him a brake. For all intensive purposes, they’re basically the same thing.

I got absolutely rat assed at the open bar during a company Christmas party.
Some things were said and it upset some people.
I don’t remember much of what happened, but my co-workers said I appeared to to be having a great time.

I had a guy get into a fistfight at my work with a customer. He was on leave for like 4-5 days and then the owner realized we couldn’t do a bunch of shite without him.
Dude came back the next week and worked there for another six months. Eventually got canned because someone caught him drinking a couple of beers at lunch. He drove a skytrak all day so that was a big no-no.

Yes back in March I did. I sent a text to the wrong person. I meant to call one of my subordinates a mother fricker because of beyond shitty work that he does. I meant to send the text to another coworker that I vent to but I sent it to the actual employee. I self reported it to HR and I was suspended for 2 days. I spent those 2 days looking for another job until my current boss and former boss vouched for me.
What gets me is that the guy told me that he wasn’t planning on doing anything with it at the moment. He said that he was saving it if he needed to. This mother fricker was gonna black mail me
