I don't know if you'd call it directly but my aunt is best friends with the mother of one of the Sandy Hook victims. Her and her husband actually came and stayed at her house for several weeks directly after the shooting and I've met them a couple times.

I guess it has directly affected me in the sense that I avoid the occasional Sandy Hook hoaxer thread because I become irrationally angry at things said about them.

My cousin lives in NYC.

When 9/11 happened, she had to leave her apartment for months because part of one of the plane wings ended up in her apartment.

True story. She had in laws in Arizona and they lived out there until they were able to go home.

Hubert (don't know last name) was one of the people killed on Bourbon Street.

He was from the westbank of New Orleans. Think he went to Shaw for high school bit not 100% on that.

I was driving to Boulder when that shooting in King Soopers was going on. Packs of unmarked cars kept driving past me, I knew something was up. I was showing a property when I asked if the person I was showing knew what was going on and she casually said oh there's an active shooter at king soopers right now, like it was nothing and kept looking at the house. My office is near the king soopers, thats the closest ive got.
Also met a random 50 plus year old lady on a plane on the way to Cabo for a work trip. We exchanged numbers and I banged her a few times in my room, turns out she was shot in the hip in the Las Vegas shooting. She was at the concert and told me she watched people get shot and killed in front of her.

Every single event that lead to war since 1990 has affected my family.

My father was deployed over 15 times and did tours in every war since Desert Storm.

My first cousin lost his 9 yr. old daughter in the Camp Mystic floods this past summer. His older daughter survived. He's also an LSU grad.

I wasn’t impacted by a terrorist attack but I had several family members caught up in 9/11

One cousin I grew up with worked nextdoor to WTC. Witnessing the attack and the jumpers really fricked him up for years.

Two classmates who joined FDNY were killed as well.

I grew up in Oklahoma City and had a classmate a few blocks over that was a bit ‘odd’.

One day in the 5th grade, a friend and I were riding bikes when we rode by this kid’s house. He said “Hey guys, wanna see some nude pictures?” We quickly agreed to look at these photos so we followed him into his bedroom.

He produced a stack of old pictures with ‘May 1969’ stamped on the frame. We thumbed through them to find old photos of his dad in Vietnam. Foxholes, choppers, machine guns, no nudes. We pointed this out and with a smile on his face said ‘Keep looking.”

Suddenly we found the most disturbing photos I could have imagined: naked photos of his parents having sex.

His mother was featured with a massive beehive haircut and hairy bush. There was one close up shot of his mother’s vagina with a veiny dildo deeply inserted. It was honestly disgusting.

“Dude, these are pictures of your parents.”

And with the creepy smile, he said “I know.”

Fast forward to 1995 and his pregnant sister was killed in the bombing. She was actually counted as two victims. Her mother was very involved in the case and was often interviewed on TV. Every time, I thought of the beehive and bush.

A few years later, I was working overseas when a co-worker brought in a newspaper. On the front was President Bill Clinton consoling a grieving mother at the dedication ceremony for the OKC Bombing Memorial.

My co-workers looked at the photo with sadness and sympathy. All I could think of was Lewinsky and a cigar with the beehive, bush and veiny dildo.

Everybody’s into something.

The Oklahoma City Murrah Building bombing.

I lived in the far NW suburbs. My neighbor was a postal inspector, which is a federal law enforcement job.

I got home from work that day and he was standing on his driveway in full riot gear, like he was part of a SWAT team.

He told me he had to go downtown and stand guard over evidence that they had stored in the building which had been exposed by the explosion.

Also, one of the people killed was a member of the same church as me, but I didn't know him.

That is as close as I've gotten.

Wow! You and I both posted stories about the exact same incident at the exact same time. What are the odds?

BTW, I recognize your username from DirtBurglars. You should post there more often.

Probably a handful of posters here can say they were related to or knew one of the Bourbon Street terrorist attack victims or were there at the time.

There had been a drive by attack in Manila three or four minutes before our car drove by. They'd shot up a car with 4 or 5 people in it. Feet were hanging out of windows, the cops hadn't arrived yet, and some of the bullet holes were still smoking a wee bit.

This happened while I was about 60 yards away on the other side of the river. I was getting alerts on my phone, and nobody in the bar was doing anything. I asked a bouncer if he wanted to lock the door to protect patrons, and he said, "that wouldn't be very British of us."

“They had these long knives and started shouting about Allah. Then it was, ’Islam, Islam, Islam,'” Larner told The Sun. “Like an idiot I shouted back at them. I thought, ’I need to take the p--- out of these b---ers.'”

Before he actually stepped into the path of the attackers, Larner made sure they knew he was affiliated with the notoriously rough and tumble South London club.

“I took a few steps towards them and said, ’F-- you, I'm Millwall.
