In today’s world it’s a shame that everyone has a stick up their arse and are offended by everything. What used to make comedians so funny is the fact that they could point out the faults in everything including themselves and make a joke out of it. Now every “comedy” show is basically just poking fun at politics and everyone thinking its so funny. It’s not. It’s unoriginal and boring and has got me thinking, do y’all think real comedy has died?

ETA: Any good comedian suggestions that I may not have heard of?

Sounds like you're watching the wrong comedians. Plenty of great comedy out there

Comedy isn't dead, I think it's just not as much of a mainstream promotion anymore. It's too risky in this climate and big media loves safe content.

If you seek out standup outside of the mainstream marketed stuff, there's still funny comics addressing real life

Dave Chappelle is still funny as shite and I love a lot of the sketches Key and Peele do also but for the most part I feel like most other mainstream comedians just don’t have it

Much of comedy is funny because it's close to reality.
Now, everyone gets bent out of shape about things, so what can comedy do?

Richard Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield, George Carlin, Sam Kinison, John Belushi..all dead.

Now Eddie Murphy apologizing for his old stuff.

Yep! It's dead.

How did I forget the late Ollie Joe Prater? Richard Pryor called him "the last renegade White man alive."

Triggered ! I find your usage of the word "died" to be problematic . Not to mention your offensive sexual imagery that has literally violated me . And I WILL start a conversation to tell my truth.

I haven't seen Louis CK's new stuff but Chappelle and Burr have taken woke culture head on. They've been called out by woke media and their bullshite never sticks.

Woke culture won't kill comedy. Comedy will kill woke culture

OP specifically said "real comedy" -- Amy Schumer specials don't count.

Chapelle's most recent show was really good. I didn't care for his other Netflix specials. The Chris Rock Netflix special wasn't very good either.

Go listen to Nick Di Paolo, Mark Normand (grew up in NO), or Tim Dillon. Every one of those dudes is hilarious.

Not that I've seen. The last of the greats were guys like Louis CK, Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, Daniel Tosh, Anthony Jeselnik, Jeff Ross, Dave Attell, Etc. That was the last wave of good comics. Everybody since then has been pretty much dogshit.

It's why Europeans and Australians never really put out a lot of great comics. They've had outrage culture a lot longer than we have. The United States used to value freedom of speech not just legally but morally and culturally, as well. Now we're more like Europe culturally. This is why film, music and comedy has died.

Most great comics were great because they pushed the envelope. Now pushing the envelope is frowned upon and gets you doxed/fired, banished from society, etc.

I'm sure you have heard of him...but I like Nate Bargatze. If not...check out his Netflix shows.

Yes and No. I'll explain the "yes it has died" below.

If you are watching anything on late-night TV (including Comedy Central), they spend over half of their monologue reading 'jokes' written by deranged leftists that first and foremost have a goal of getting some ironic applause and/or some gotcha against Trump, Republicans, and or middle-America.

Does it involve humor? Yes. But is it really that funny? Of course not. The motivation is NOT GREAT COMEDY.. its a grasp for applause.
