How is he strolling through 2020 unscathed?
Seriously? Has he released an album in the last 20 years? Dude was born 10 decades ago.

He had a great voice back in the 70’s. His cover of Desperadoes Waiting on a Train is my favorite version of that song

I met him once years ago. He’s a former Outlaws patch holder and still a known associate as far as I know. I spoke with him briefly and was left with the impression he’s a complete dick.

Does David Allen Coe News To be cancelled?
Posted on 7/1/20 at 9:20 pm to OysterPoBoy
I was at a casino about 15 years ago and I saw ( smelled ) dac. He had about 10 different hair colors. He was fricking nasty.

Sounds like he canceled himself.

He's not relevant enough to get cancelled.

The last I heard of him was an incident at a casino. He got tackled by security. I guess he was winning too much.

Can’t beat Guy Clark or JJW. I’ll give it a listen to see.

Coincidentally OTD in 2013 Charles Carr passed away. He was the driver on Hank Sr's last ride.

but he really was/is a full blown racist
Weren't the "racist" songs written in conjunction with a black friend of his that they both thought would be funny for being ridiculously over the top?

Was supposed to see him this Friday. Covid has it postponed.

I had Spotify refund me for several months last year after I figured out they removed his songs with “offensive” words. I wrote them a complaint, saying how hypocritical they were and they didn’t even argue. Just handed me a few free months.

I have multiple friends that have been to his concerts. They all say it was one of the worst shows they have been to. Have never heard a good thing about him live.

That isn’t David Allan Coe singing the song you are referring to. He’s mistakenly credited being the artist by a lot of people. I think it’s because who ever uploaded the original file in Napster, Kazaa, Limewire etc put his name as the artist, but he isn’t.

It all depends if he’s sober
I’ve seen him 3 times; one time was a decent 90 minute show, one time was a kickass 3 hr show. Another one he told us to frick off and he quit after playing after 45 minutes

if the person doesn't care, cancelling them does no good. DAC is definitely one who doesn't care.
Absolutely true

I've heard sober he was really really good. Problem is, at least in the early 2000s, he wasn't sober.
His set at Rick's in '98 was still good. The funny thing is my wife & I ended up being influenced by college kids for another 9 years so I ended up listening to autotune for years before getting back into Blues. My younger teen is big into rap yet thinks Tupac and Snoop suck. Go figure. Glad I haven't missed anything by not seeing a DAC since that 1st one.
