Breaking this out over the texting and driving guy is weird

Mid City, NOLA.

Got home from work at 5:30 am. I go to get out of my car and a black skinny kid put a gun to my head before I knew what was happening. I threw my keys in the ground (later learned that is what people are trained to do, create a diversion) and ran inside my house that was 30 feet away. I grabbed my shotgun and stood between him and my house/family. Drew a bead on him for over a minute and watched him drive off. He never knew I was even there. I didn't care about the car because it was a company car. I was worried he didn't know how to drive and would try to break into my house or my neighbors' houses and harm them.

Would I do it again? Yes, every fricking time.

Been on both ends of the barrel. Doing counter surveillance in Nicaragua and elsewhere working throughout Central America. Clients were drug kingpins and wanted their homes/cars/hotels/etc swept for bugs. We obliged (at premium rates of course), but ran into some pretty rough hombres in that line of work. Had one where we were going to the apartment of a particular dealer, and he had this special knock you had to use for entry. I knocked properly but then slipped and fell a couple of stairs. He heard the commotion and filled the door with buckshot. a-hole.

Had a fine upstanding Baton Rouge denizen attempt to rob me over by the Staring Lane motel a few months ago. He had some kind of little pissant gun pointed at me from under his jacket. I grabbed that little piece of shite, pistol whipped him before he fled, and then broke the gun down for parts. fricker.

I bet you have some interesting life stories

If so, what were the circumstances?

Once... road rage situation a few months ago. I apparently wasn't driving fast enough for this guys liking. He swerves around me and drive erratically for the next few miles as I pay him no mind. We reach a red light and he immediately throws it in park and get out of his truck to approach my window. I pulled the gun out but kept it low. He walked to the back of his truck and cussed at me and shot me the bird then got back in his truck and drove off. He never saw the gun, and I never brought it higher than off my lap except to re-holster it.

I feel like I did what I should have to be ready, but not escalate the situation any more by brandishing the weapon for he or anyone else to see.

Had a guy approach me at the Circle K on State St by the Canes who was wanting some food or money. Thankfully I was in my car and was able to lock it as he approached the window. He got aggressive when I told him no and hit my window.

I had my hand on my pistol the whole time so when he hit my window I pointed the gun at his nose and cocked the hammer (had one already in the chamber and wanted him to see me charge the weapon). He stood there frozen for a few seconds and just backed away.

In hindsight, one of two things would have happened I think. Either the same thing occurs when he backs away, or he breaks my window and I pull the trigger.

I believe there was no other way for me to handle it. I'm in my own neighborhood walking my dog on the sidewalk at 530PM. The sidewalk and road is separated by a three foot easement. This guy pulled out of his driveway and by the time he reached me he had to be pushing 35-40 mph. I watched the entire thing unfold and I figured it had to be a joke. If I had fired my weapon I likely still would've been run over. So like I said, it's best for both parties it did not come to that.

Exhibit A of why mentally ill people shouldn't own guns.

It's the 1970"s and I am passing in front of Embers on Tom Drive. Drunk woman walks in road and I just got stopped before hitting her. Roll down my window and yell for her to watch what she is doing. Drunk boyfriend reaches in my car for me and I avoid him by leaning towards my passenger seat. He invites me out so I open my door and get one leg out on ground. Then he closes door on my leg trapping me. I warn him that I have a gun but he ignores me so I pull it. He lets me lose and invites me out of the car so I throw the gun on the floor and get out the car. He is bigger than me so I figure I need to take the first punch. He comes for me and I hit him as hard as I can and he staggers back but does not fall. Oh , shite!!! He grabs me and somehow I wrap him up where he can't hit me but he is on top of me in the middle of the road. People are running out of the club and I make a deal. I will let him go if he will let me up. We separate and get the heck out of there.

A couple years ago, about four in the morning, on a date, driving down St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. I was a little buzzed. Probably shouldn't have been driving. I think they were Tulane students, they wanted to merge and I wouldn't let them. At the stoplight at Louisiana, they zoomed in front of me and got out the car. Two or three of them got out of the car. I had a little 22 in the glove box which I quickly pulled out, unloaded, got out of my car and pointed it at the face of the one closest to me, probably about ten or fifteen feet away. I said "get back in your car." He did and they drove off.

You're an idiot. It was unloaded, you were admittedly buzzed, and you just escalated the situation?

It worked, he disappeared. Sometimes I regret not pulling the trigger though.

So it worked and you got the optimal, desired outcome...but you regret not shooting him?

guy drove up my driveway unannounced and started to unload his horse. I didn't know who he was or what he was doing.
I walked outside (armed) and confronted him.

nope. My fricking house was lit up and my truck was in the carport. He knew I was home. fricker shoulda stopped and let me know he was there or introduced himself, or asked if he was in the right place, anything.
Don't just pull up in my yard and start doing shite unannounced.

I had to pull a gun on a man trying to get in the back seat of my truck at the Racetrack in Amite. It was a very scary experience and I was fully prepared to pull the trigger but once he was looking down my barrel he got out of my truck.

My sister did. She was walking from her office to her car in Atlanta. It was in Mid-town. Two men walking behind her started talking her, and saying what they wanted to do to her. As she continued walking she pulled her gun out of her purse and turned with it pointing at them.

They ran. Good choice. My sister is stone cold and would have shot them in a heart beat had they not run.
