Man that seems over the top to me. If your kid wanted drugs they'd probably get them some other place. I'd focus on why my kid wanted to buy drugs first.

The normal reaction is to run out of harms way, not pull a gun like a psycho when firing it, in your own words, wouldn’t have even helped.

Exactly. Flanders, you really just shouldn't be carrying a gun. Your natural instinct/reaction shows you don't know what your doing and weren't properly trained.

No. Was accused of it once. Was arrested due to that accusation. Thankfully, the judge could tell she was full of shite.

If you pull a gun and don't fire, you're wrong

The whole 10 seconds of him bowing up on me, saying I was a dead man, and me responding by drawing my gun and shoving it in his mouth as I took him to the ground, my only thought was "I chose not to be a druggie, but I'm going to have to kill some fricking drug dealer anyway. frick this shitty world."

People like you shouldn’t own guns.

Well you go ahead and live your life as a coward, I won't. My child made a 180 degree turn as a result (told me that more than once), got clean, sober, and healthy so I'm comfortable with it.

Apparently you'd tuck tail and let your child suffer instead of doing what you needed to do to save them. They're lucky to have you as a parent.

Being an irresponsible gun owner and shoving a gun in the mouth of a drug dealer isn’t helping your kid. It’s taking out your rage on the person who isn’t responsible for your kids drug use.

I sweep the house from time to time and stand guard on the back porch. Its good practice and I know how I would respond in a bad situation.

I'm not going to bow down and cave to some druggie POS who threatens me in a parking lot, much less one who's separating my child from the family with drugs and manipulation. You might be able to live like that, I'm going to deal with it instead.

I used to carry a small .22 with me. Got home late after work one night, about 2:00 am. Some guy followed me into my apartment lot, pulled behind and blocked my car in. When I showed my gun he left. He may have just wanted directions. But he get those at the gas station down the street.

So did he find you or you find him?

That’s on your fricking kid, not the dealer. You sound like one of those parents who think their kid can do no wrong and it’s everyone else’s fault.

Once, actually when I was very young. My father worked out of town during the week so it was just my mother (no pics), sister(no pics), and I. Well one weekday night around 1am my mother woke me up in a panic holding my father's pump 12 and a few shells while on the phone with 911. She tells me someone is at the front door trying to break in. I get up, load the gun and go peek around the corner to the front door. Sure enough some baw had a flashlight and was looking through the window trying to see what we had and if anyone was home. When he scanned back to look down the hallway I popped around the corner and screamed "you better fricken run." The dude took off running just as police turned onto the street. Turns out he had scoped out a couple of the neighbor's homes and police were already on the way.

The whole experience definitely scared me. The last thing I would ever want to do is pull the trigger and shoot someone. However it made me realize that home protection is necessary.

When I lived in NOLA East, I heard a noise at my dead bolt and saw someone doing something, so I grabbed my hand gun and racked the slide as loud as I could right beside the door. I heard the guy fall and run. I opened the door 15 minutes later, and the idiot was putting fliers on the door at 7 PM.

Right after Katrina. Sitting in a parking lot waiting on the wife & had some guys approach the truck. Things turned wierd quickly and I just laid it on the console next to me. They backed off made an excuse and walked away. I wouldn't have handled it differently, but I'm very very thankful shite didn't escalate.

If your child has been to any kind of treatment you would know that nobody “chose to be a druggie”.

He found me. I wasn't looking.

Well you're wrong. I know full well my child was wrong, and it's my child's decision and fault, in the end.

I just don't think a father should just stand on the side and stare at his naval when the drug salesman threatens him and tries to scare him away. You might not, but there are a few of us left who think dealing with that problem when its right in front of you is what a father does for his child.

Been on both ends of the barrel. Doing counter surveillance in Nicaragua and elsewhere working throughout Central America. Clients were drug kingpins and wanted their homes/cars/hotels/etc swept for bugs. We obliged (at premium rates of course), but ran into some pretty rough hombres in that line of work. Had one where we were going to the apartment of a particular dealer, and he had this special knock you had to use for entry. I knocked properly but then slipped and fell a couple of stairs. He heard the commotion and filled the door with buckshot. a-hole.

Had a fine upstanding Baton Rouge denizen attempt to rob me over by the Staring Lane motel a few months ago. He had some kind of little pissant gun pointed at me from under his jacket. I grabbed that little piece of shite, pistol whipped him before he fled, and then broke the gun down for parts. fricker.
