It is real, but the angle is a little deceiving.
I saw it on fb a few times last night, it's one of a set of pictures. The others are from the road way looking down rather than that angle and you can still see the top of the cement guard in the other pictures.

Some might be mistaking flaring for a real fire. When they are trying to burn off product in a hurry, the flares can get pretty damn big

Should I be able to make this drive or should I sit still for a couple of days?
Heights area is clear, but for some reason, google maps is showing that 45 is shut down from Woodlands through Houston.
I know there are a couple of spots along 45 that are still covered, but the entire thing isn't, so hard to tell where you can cut around and can't
Its doable, just a pain in the arse. Maybe 45, to 99, to 290, down to 10.

The Beaumont/ Port Arthur area got insanely slammed over night.

Shutdown ops, they are dumping everything to flares.

Anyone know if I-10 is open from Beaumont to Lafayette. I know a lot of service roads are covered.

Frickin Good Morning Ameria has a reporter in Lake Charles, although they called it Lake Charles, TX. Then, OF COURSE, here comes more talk about the pumps in New Orleans. I think Leesville has had more rain than New Orleans, but yeah, let's focus on Mitch's screw job of a city.
Just drives me nuts when so many people have been severely impacted by this, and the major news media is still concerned with New Orleans more than anything else.

Probably current and wind going in opposite direction which builds waves.

GMA is here in LC?? Why? I feel like we have been beyond lucky in this storm as it's stayed right on the state line for the most part the past 24hours.

I think CBS This Morning has someone there as well.
No clue why, other than the foot of rain some parts of the area have recieved.
Just like I have no clue why they are so hung up on New Orleans when there really hasn't been a serious threat of significant rainfall outside of what SELA got yesterday, and I've heard of no problems in New Orleans.

It's basically no go at the state line after a good 25"-30" fell yesterday.
Here in BR, looking forward to a breezy day with maybe a quick band of rain and all of the baws on the OT complaining everything got cancelled. Unaware how blessed Louisiana got this time around.

For those of y'all from Sienna plantation ( ik there's a few), when do y'all plan on returning home?
Working is putting the screws to me to get back ASAP. However, the Brazos is still forecasted to rise another 5 feet until it crests Thursday afternoon.
I'm just trying to get a feel for if returning today is a viable option

Yep 100000% correct. Give me this little wind and rain over 30 inches of rain anyday. We were spared big time.
