Katrina is looking like a little bitch now. Harvey will be twice as bad as Katrina. Prayers for all those poor people of southeast Texas. I can't imagine the fear they must be experiencing.
ETA: I'm talking in regards to damage done. Not deaths.

Beaumont and Port Arthur are part of the fricking sea right now.

The second shelter is flooding in Port Arthur. Evacuating to 3rd location now.

Harvey will do more damage and may double the monetary loss of Katrina, but I doubt ~3,600 people end up dead.

Yep, Orange and PA Govt. aren't letting cajun navy in til 6AM, cause curfew... BULL shite. As usual govt. fricking shite up. I get they think they're thinking about safety but these people want to get out and help people.. fricking let them.
Chill out bro. No need to put these people- normal everyday citizens who want to help (not trained and paid professionals)- in harms way. I agree they should let volunteer help, but it's not helping if they get themselves in a pickle (or worse).
There's no good or easy answer but I'd hate to see the three guys I know who are over there helping get hurt or killed. Even the professionals know when to call it a day.

Yeah, and based on what Rakim posted, good people are getting swept away because they are blinded by that heroism.
This is not a situation for mindless heroes.

Ok, I have to say.. this whole boats capsized thing may be real.. whatever.. but I'm cautiously accepting that. The page "southeast louisiana storm spotters" is literally the only source with this information... that's all I'll say about that.

Changed my flight from Houston to Dallas today. Thinking about renting a car in Dallas at noon and heading to Houston (TC Jester and 10 in the Heights or Mid Lane and San Felipe in the Galleria).
Should I be able to make this drive or should I sit still for a couple of days?

That pic is unbelievable, I would swear its photoshopped, but from everything I've seen it's real...
Insane.
Insane.

We'll never agree on this so I won't argue needlessly.

That picture is absolutely insane. I thought it was photoshopped at first.

While Harvey is a historic storm with unimaginable destruction it is not correct to call Katrina a little bitch. The bottom line is these storms suck for everyone impacted. I know several people in Texas impacted by this and pray they make a quick recovery.

The wave action looks pretty strong, but I've seen whitecaps in the Tchefuncte before, so maybe it's real.

I ran the image through a forensics site:
And here is the error level analysis:
Take from it what you will.

Motiva's Port Arthur refinery, the largest in the US, says it began shutdown at 5 am due to 'increasing local flood conditions' from Harvey

Uh, no. 1,833 dead in Katrina.

Just saw a video on TWC that showed what looked like a large fire at some sort of industrial site/plant in Port Arthur
