Rumors of the Addicks reservoir breaking.... Heard it tonight by someone who was out on a boat rescue.. now watching the news and heard it mentioned. Fuuuuuuuk if true.
I'm hoping it's just a BS rumor

Amazing the individual stories that will be told from this ordeal. Glad your son got the medical attention he needed.
The timing was unfortunate, the wife and I were like you have to be kidding.

Did it break or just going around the damn? I guess if that's the case it won't take long to wash out the end.

All y'all hearing anything about the Motiva Port Arthur refinery? It's the largest refinery in the US and I'm wondering if it's going to flood?

Coworker of mine just spoke to a friend in Port Arthur and they have 3 feet of water in the house. Need to be evacuated. Anyone know who can be notified? Don't think it's life threatening but they want to get out.

Yes, the entire town is under and water is still rising.

They are only doing medical emergency rescues by chopper currently. Waiting for safe daylight I'm assuming before they release boats to area.

Last I heard it was still running stable, but only at 40% capacity. Things may have changed since then, this was 12 hours ago.

UPDATE: Cajun Navy locked out of Port Arthur Orange and Beaumont but are collecting addresses for rescue ASAP

Yep, Orange and PA Govt. aren't letting cajun navy in til 6AM, cause curfew... bullshite. As usual govt. fricking shite up. I get they think they're thinking about safety but these people want to get out and help people.. fricking let them.

Doesn't Valero have refinery in Port Arthur? Wonder if they are shut in?
Posted on 8/30/17 at 5:52 am to GEAUXmedic
I think there still has to be some concept of safety involved. I respect what the Cajun Navy is doing, but they are still a largely untrained unit (in terms of first response/rescue) operating in an area with unknown hazards below the water's surface.
Just because someone wants to help doesn't mean they can just do whatever they want. May not be a popular opinion, but that's it for me. It seems they want to help so bad that they aren't even thinking about their own safety in some cases.

It's very dangerous right now especially in the dark. I think that's a big reason they are basically waiting for the sun rise before allowing them back out.

I get it, but sometimes you just have to stop with the fricking regulations. These are grown arse people who can decide to do what they want.

My daughter and son-in-law live in Beaumont, she works for P66 in Port Arthur. They were ok last night. Haven't heard from them yet this am.
