This reservoir situation is going to a clusterfrick of epic proportions. Addicks is supposed to stay above 108' until September 20th.
Barker is supposed to overtop on September 1st and begins to recede on September 4th.

I'm sorry to hear about your home.
We lost property in Katrina, so I know the feeling all too well -- and I wish that on no one.
My advice to you moving forward while you wade through the insurance bullshite you're about to go through: document everything. Photos, lists, receipts, conversations...everything.
Get yourself a legal pad or note book, and write down precise minutes for every conversation you have with your insurance company: names, dates, time of phone call, length of phone call, items discussed. Be relentless. Call daily, call twice daily.
I am convinced the only reason we got anything from Citizens after Katrina is because we had a legal pad filled with this information, and we worked our way up the totem pole until I think they just paid out to shut us up (and they couldn't really refute the very specific records we kept).
Sending everyone in Texas and West La affected by Harvey thoughts and prayers.

I'm sick to my stomach thinking of how we felt this time last year and you truly have my sympathy. As someone else said, take lots of pictures and document EVERYTHING. It's tiresome but worth it. We lost almost everything from the floods last year and some pictures before we ripped everything out were the make or break for several fights with our insurance. As cliche as it sounds, take it one day at a time and one battle at a time. It gets better and you will get through it.

It is kind of a shame that Houston is going steal the press from the poor people that got the first punch of Harvey. Reminds me of Katrina with the Mississippi coast

No doubt the flood will overshadow the deatruction caused by the surge and wind to the south. The MS gulf coast was permanently changed by Katrina. Waveland was damn near wiped off the map

I don't think people properly understand how severe this reservoir flooding is going to be. There will be $2MM homes with 3 feet of water in them. There will be parts of Addicks with water in the homes through September 20th. This is going to be insane.

Couple that with the Brazos and Colorado river flooding upcoming and it's going to be a tough road ahead for a lot of people

San Jacinto river as well.
Probably the Trinity also, as well as the Sabine before this is over.
I'd be concerned about every river between Corpus Christi and the Mississippi, honestly.
