I'm sure there are some groups organizing relief efforts, the crazy thing is we aren't sure yet that we won't be needing a bunch of resources here in LA just yet. This looks like another 4-5 days before it's out. NOAA has this thing in Dallas on FRIDAY!

We have had rain in Opelousas off and on for the last day, but in the last 30 minutes it got really heavy. Multiple tornado warnings in St. Martin, Iberia, and Vermilion Parishes. Spoke to family in Lake Charles and they have been getting fairly heavy rain all day, but no serious flooding around them...yet.

6-7 inches in Houston over the next 18 hours is very bad, but it beats the 14 number over towards Beaumont.

I'm in Pipers Meadow. My street was flooded last night. I think some houses at the front of the street probably got water in their house, I know others in the neighborhood had water in their house.
I saw a neighbor driving in the street around 3 am when the water was just starting to drain. He couldn't make it out of the neighborhood, only made it to the end of the street. He had gotten a call from a relative needing help. Not sure how that turned out.

You're to the point where upstream rain is just as bad as rain over you. It's all flowing down the gulf and will serve to enhance the flooding in the Houston area.

How well does Lake Chuck take flooding? I'm hoping Cameron Parish doesn't get hit hard. I had a buddy who lost everything during Rita and even had to leave LSU to go home to help his family get back on track.

How can I find the rain totals for my area? Trying to figure out how much more we can get before the house is in danger.

Not well at all. The street I grew up on would flood at least once every summer from afternoon rain storms. Not into houses flood, but onto the median type floods. And we are only talking a few inches of rain.
The McNeese campus and areas around downtown flood very easily.
If they get even half of what some parts of Houston have in that short of a time period, LC could be in trouble.

I have drained the pool 3 times in almost a 24 hour period. At least 6 inches each time.
