Much of southwest Louisiana is now under threat of major flooding as well. Heaviest rain is over that area at the moment.

Katrina killed more than Twelve hundred people and those are things that cannot be replaced.
Property damage is just that, property damage and can be fixed and will be replaced and Texans will rise above that.
Katrina was also such a complete mindfrick thanks to inept and incompetent political leadership at all levels dealing with it like Blanco and Nagin. Thankfully that's not happening here in Texas.

I'm on Woodhead St a block south of US 59. Water is flooding the neighborhood streets towards Bissonet like the tax day flood last year, but not quite as bad yet, and saw some big oak tree limbs down in the street. Drainage seems to be good when the rain breaks but water was coming up out of the storm drains during the heavy stuff.

Buddy in south lake Charles said it's beginning to get bad with rainfall. Looking at radar there could be problems there soon also. Terrible situation all along the coast

Gotcha .. husband had that as well a few years ago. He's a farmer and it was quite hard for the I think 6 weeks of no lifting. Still, God speed to them and all of Texas.
