A city that can't drain by gravity and the Army Corps building shoddy levees and canals that acted as funnels into a city below sea level. When the water came it, it was moving fast and rising really quickly.

Houston has a slower ride but the extent of property impacted will be similar if not possibly exeed Katrina's if the 24"+ predictions manifest.

I just want to say this, and I'm just kind of running this off the top of my head, so it won't be well written.

People will ask, why this happenened, why did it happen to Houston, etc. but the fact is, it was eventually going to happen to someone, and unfortunately for these poor people, it was them this time. These catastrophes, while always mind-boggling, are going to happen. It's just the way it is. Sometimes, it's just going to happen. I asked the same questions about Alabama during the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 27, 2011, and one tv meteorologist here put it much like I put it above, sometimes it's just going to happen to you.

For everyone of faith like me, we just have to have faith and trust, and I pray that those dealing with this will have that same faith and trust. I pray that God's hand will be upon all of these people through the duration of this event and during the recovery.

I'm on Woodhead St a block south of US 59. Water is flooding the neighborhood streets towards Bissonet like the tax day flood last year, but not quite as bad yet, and saw some big oak tree limbs down in the street. I heard Gov Abbott said in an interview earlier today that Texas has $10 Billion in a rainy day fund. Louisiana doesn't have 10 dollars.

You know better than most that it is impossible to evacuate based on rainfall projections. This event could have set up 60 miles east or west and Houston would have largely been spared.

ETA: You'd have to evacuate basically Corpus to the state line to protect everyone.
