I looks like it's going to hit Corpus head on.
Would need to make a near immediate W turn to do so. Or WNW at very least to have a shot. Its hitting north of CC.

See, that "they'll be just fine" is fricking ignorant.....

Um people in Louisiana who want to prep if needed.
And I can't do anything for Texas at the moment other than pray. Which has been ongoing.

And there was no mandatory evac In corpus
and of course there wasn't, shows how much large metropolitan areas have learned a whole bunch of nothing in the last 12 years

Looks like things are picking up in Galveston, still some dumbasses parked and checking out the waves.

They explained why......not wanting to put all law enforcement in a position of risk for folks who don't want to leave and are adults that can make their own decisions.

Corpus is going to be alright from a wind and surge aspect if it stays on this course and hits north of there. The hurricane force winds don't extend that far on the left side of the storm relative to the coast and they won't get the worst surge in that spot: 1 because of the barrier island and 2 because of the wind direction.

Have you heard if the Cajun Navy is making its way to the corpus area?

Can we all be honest. Aren't we all pulling for the strongest hurricane possible? Maybe just a little part of you? None of us want to see anyone hurt or damage but there is something incredibly awesome about seeing such a freak on nature.
I'm not. I've worked hard all of my life for security, be it family, job, or home. People work hard for their property, their valuables, the ability to enjoy life. I packed up as much as I could in a couple hours, hoping that I will come home to everything being ok. This is no different than what we've seen and gone through in Louisiana. Why anybody would ever wish for something to get worse for fellow people, our neighbors, our friends, is beyond me.
My home is two blocks from a bay that is getting smashed right now, and I'm 150 miles away watching a live news feed praying that part of what I've worked for isn't wiped away

Not looking to be enlightened. I'm quite aware of the potential catastrophic results we all face here.
Just providing information to those who may be interested subjectively.

Whoever catches the east side of the wall is in the most serious danger. Right now the eye is 18.6 miles across. Kind of wonder the norm for Cat 3-4

So, what's your perspective on the Labor Day floods?
...now, understand the likely magnitude increase and duration of this event. The rain fall amounts are going to be notably higher than 15". Go look around. 10-15" is way under.

TX is proactive. They'll be fine. Lots of resources in TX and they have always invested heavily in infrastructure

I believe Ivan had multiple waves over 90 feet.

Glad Harvey wasn't 10 hours slower.

Hurricane Ivan, which struck U.S. shores September 15, 2004, kicked up the tallest, most extreme waves ever measured, scientists announced today. At more than 90 feet (27 meters) tall from crest to trough and 600 feet (183 meters) long, the massive waves would "wipe out" a commercial fishing boat, said Douglas Mitchell. Mitchell is an oceanographer with the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
