Not to change the subject but being a police officer and seeing the video of the flooded cars makes me laugh. I can't tell you how many times in the past I saw people parking their cars near the coast to ensure that they flooded.

56 mph sustained gusting to 72 mph at Aransas Pass.

12,241 AEP Texas customers out of power.

It's getting real.

Who cares right now? Texas needs to have full control of this thread right now, in my opinion.

Tons of lives are about to be changed after this.

I need some more sandbags if anyone knows where I can get some. I went to Fire Station 7 on Claycut and Jefferson, but they ran out of bags.

ETA: That projection looks like a 4 year old made art with crayons.

If this thing goes back out into the gulf and then makes a second US landfall that is still west of Houston, we are absolutely fricked.

Inner 610 will struggle with this weekend's rainfall alone, not to mention the eye passing just west on Monday.

your fellow houstonians yesterday told me Houston doesn't get flood damage. they are up and good within 24 hrs after the worst of floods.

In Baton Rouge? You don't need sandbags.

Unfortunately, I do. The property sits really low. Water has come up to the house in a hard rain.

ETA: It's not "flooding" I'm worried about. It's the torrential rain that will fall faster than the drain can clear it.

There are a lot of people in Houston that are not taking this storm nearly as seriously as they need to.

I swear if I have to hear "Well it won't be as bad as Ike" one more damn time...

People don't realize this is a COMPLETELY different type of storm than Ike.
