Ha. I can't leave the medical center until tomorrow (new baby). We might be prolonging our stay.....

You really might. If you have to stay long enough, access roads will go under. Your facility won't though.

What's the concern of being out of water? At what point does tap water stop/get contaminated?

In y'alls opinion will the northern part of Houston be fairly ok early on Sunday? I know there will be rain but seems like shite hits the fan closer to Monday when it starts moving east.

There's a page on Facebook called "Louisiana Hurricane Center" I've seen people sharing.

It is not official and does not have any meteorologists who post for them.

That hype is how he got 200,000 followers.

YEah, not worried about the flooding here. Just worried because we probably won't have access to our 2 yr old, who is with his grandparents right now.....

The Houston paper said Alvin, TX got 43 inches in a single day in 1979 due to Tropical Storm Claudette.

Yeah that is the 24 hour record in the US.

That is a fricking incredible, unimaginable amount of rain.

What did Baton Rouge get last August in the flood? 30 inches?

FWIW, this is the 7-day accumulated rainfall for the 6z GFS:

Matches up with 00z Euro showing potential for nearly 30" in and around Houston.

An area of possible development, but I believe it is expected to cross Florida and head out to sea.

I called my dad on Wednesday and he said Baton Rouge had 20 inches in 24 hours in the worst parts. Unsure of a longer run but it rained 3-4 days solid there.

It is a disturbance/disorganized area of storms. NHC gives it a low chance of development over the next few days.

Baton Rouge proper didn't get that much, but a few areas in the north part of EBR and Livingston Parish got over 30 inches, but that was 2 or 3 day totals, not in a single day.

My neighbors here in Spring were without power for 10 nights / 11 days after Ike. I also am not prepared for that. 10 gallons of water. 2 full tanks of gas. And some extra food supplies. That's all we got

It wasn't quite that much. I believe I've heard reports of about 20-21 inches in 24 hrs.

Can anyone in Houston give me some intel?

Anecdotally...My Father was at MD Anderson during the Memorial Day flood, we were at the Marriott on Fanin, no problems. However, 280 was a lake, and area's to the SSW of the MED Center had serious flooding. That bayou has a deep channel, but it was all over creation. I fly out of HOU a lot , and the drainage in Harris Co is abysmal.

I am over in the port picking up stuff around the office. We got a pretty solid band of rain. I am ready to get out of here.
