Per a pod cast interview he gave a few yrs, his spaghetti movies were all filmed in either Spain or Italy because of budget concerns....it was a lot cheaper to film there. Also, his salary in those movies were minimal, barely over a $100K. Dirty Harry is where he started making the big money. As a director he was famous / infamous for only taking take per scene.

Watching a guy who went from Rowdy Yates to a 96 year old was awesome. He is a man’s man and would never make it in today’s Hollywood. I watch his movies now as if he’s a family member because that’s most of ours heritage in that guy.
