50% do

Sure, and that's when I get to cook, wash dishes do laundry, etc.
Dishes don't take more than 10 minutes if you're hand washing. If loading the dishwasher, no more than 5 minutes.
Washer and dryer does the laundry. Folding a load of clothes takes 15 minutes tops.

It's actually less than 50% and that number is distorted among the boomers. Gen X and Y aren't rates aren't as high.
Not to mention those that get divorced once are like 75% more likely to have a second, third, etc. so the 50% of marriages ending in divorce only accounts for about 20% of all people that have been married

I wonder what the rate of divorce is between dual working spouses vs those with one that stays hone

Gen x and Gen y get married way less than baby boomers and millennials even less

No shite. Which contributes to their lower divorce rate. People that shouldn't be getting married, aren't.

It's great that being a SAHM was basically a vacation for you. I'm not sure why you feel compelled to argue with me about what my day looks like or how long it takes me to maintain my house.

I'm lol'ing at 5 minutes to wash dishes.

Actually, I said 10 minutes to hand wash and 5 minutes to load a dishwasher. Next time you perform this act, time yourself. If it takes you much monger than this, you're doing it wrong.

my background is executive HR with a focus on Risk Management. I've consulted over my "retirement", conducted investigations and worked with legal cousel to defend suits. Several of my previous, large employers still contract me for such cases from time to time and I've been referred by a couple law firms I worked with for years for contract work, as well. I also have extensive background in employee education and exectuive training and have both built training programs or executive retreats and conducted both on a contract basis.
My background was in a niche market and I am still well regarded by those companies and others in the business and my certifications are kept up to date. I also continue to take courses on issues that are new to HRI just don't see being able to return full time with my husband's work and travel schedule.

Latch key kids are one of the main problems that will eventually destroy our society.

Many of those SAHMs are stepping out. Just sayin...

My wife is a stay at home mom for our puppies going on 17yrs. I don't think they plan on going to school any time soon.

My wife stayed home for 5 years, she went back a couple years ago part time. I took a 50% income cut around then. Although we could make ends meet it was tough to do without extra cash. As my income increases I can't wait to be back where we were and have her stay home again.

Gen Y and Millennials get married at exactly the same rate because they are the same generation.

Hey that Lipsense gig is what my brother's woman does during the summer (Teacher). She makes a killing. Almost enough to stop teaching haha.
My train of thought has always been if its cost effective for the mom to stay home, then do it.
However, no fricking man should ever be sitting on his arse at home. Sexist or not IDGAF. A MAN WORKS.

That stuff is horrible. Can't believe I spent $55 on that crap.

So what if the mom is highly successful in her career and makes enough for the man to stay home with the kids?
So only if it is the woman staying home with the kids...then it is beneficial to the family?

Mine went back for about a year after my youngest started in elementary school.
Had "mommy hours" and everything (worked while kids in school, day ended when theirs did, had same holidays off). Household still suffered a little bit and she did not go back after the school year ended (except for some "fill in" work for about another year).
